My fiance came after me about 11:30 last night and threatened to throw the computer in our pool.
Is this a common AH relationship side effect? She feels there is something deeply wrong within me that I would want to stay on the game for four straight hours. I didn't have the heart to tell her that 4 hours is nothin.
-
Hmmm I was engaged once.....ONCE!....she said 'its me or the damn pc'........well,the pc's still here......:D
-
While she's in therapy for misplaced aggression you should have plenty of time to fly. :)
-
My wife once said "You need to make a choice between that computer and me".
I replied: "Do you really want me to do that?"
I think she got the point. Basically, she doesn't ask what I'd rather have in the house and I don't tell her.

My wife encourages my flying in every way. She loves it so much that she has offered to let me have all the free time I want. I wonder what that means?
-
Ahhh join the singles club soon :)
Joc, don't fool yourself... ;)
-
LOL! I decided a while ago now (4.5 years ago!) - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! :D Never intended actually flying myself, but decided to start my own account so that I could join him as a gunner or drive a GV..... flying came later when I got fed up of sitting around in HQ (in AW) waiting for someone to take a bomber up! :)

40dogmaw Had Air Warrior listed on his divorce papers.
-
Lucky (hmmmm?) for me there were no flight sims or PCs for that matter when I was married or I'd still be single.
-
Since I set up a router to share the cable modem connect, my other CO has been happy as a clam. At least she know's I'm not out boozing and chasing wild women :D
-
Hehe, great thread. All you young'ns out there read and heed what the veterans have to say. I heard it all myself in a prior life, that chapter closed and I have been blessed with an understanding lady who now has her own account, and my flying time is dwindling. Hmmm, what to do.... Yep, building a nudder 'puter for MsPsyco, but I get to keep the Cougar HOTAS, and she gets the CH throttle, pedals and flight stick, there's where I draw the line!!!!
Psyco
right honey?????

Y'all should try this...
Put a pair of sunglasses on backwards, then as you sit playing just nod in agreement every once in a while...this should give you at least 3-4 hours of peace while flying...
...until she wises up about the sunglasses indoors thing :)

mt... it doesn't mean anything important..
well... depending on what you think is "important". Is she working out to get into shape? Change in employment status?

:) Thanks Lazs.
Actually momma tapes her soap operas and likes to watch them at night. I have been banished from the room during soap time due to my incessant comments about the idiocy of the plot and the acting.
This means I am now encouraged to fly for at least 2 hours a night. If I quit early she will even groan and say... "don't you want to fly some more?"
Learning to love Soap Operas :D

i had a relationship like that once...luckily she was hit by a beer truck. :D
the female carbon based life form i'm seeing now...and have been for almost four years...actually ENCOURAGES me to play the game as much as i want! she says it's because i haven't been taking my piper up that much lately due to work/time constraints, but i think it's really because when i'm flying online, she can watch the chick flicks she gets all the time. :D
she has a sister...

My wife hates it when I fly AH so I just do it at my girlfriends house.
-
My wife didn't understand it at first.
Then her friends husbands started drinking all the time, another had an affair, others are gone and the wife has NO idea where he is.
Me I'm just in the other room with my headset on talking to some guys in California, texas, florida etc.
She knows exactly where I'm at. Evenings I try not to fly for more than 2 hours at a spell. Give her equal billing and she's happy.
If thats not enough remind em that an evening at the bar can run 30$ easily, the bartender will NOT call you to the phone and you'll be sober when you come to bed not drunk & stinky.
If she doesn't get the point lose her,
she really isn't right for you.
-
My ex wife didn't like flying. I traded her in on a faster PC so I could get improved frame rates. Best deal I've made to date.

My honey likes me to fly, it takes my mind of sex till she can claim
asleep. ;) :p
I think its a security thing with her myself.
If yall aint even married yet she needs much more attention
than that. What the hell you thinking man?
Better watch out for "Jody"
:cool

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this syndrome! I just make it a point to spend one quality evening a week with the wife and the rest of the week online. So, when you don't see me online, that's quality evening night! I know that's a lot, but what else am I to do?
I find it helps to wash the dishes before going online.

several years ago:
"you love that computer more than me....""" etc.
"okokok, I'll hit the nudie bars with the guys then...."
today:
"here is a beer and chips..."
-
Tuck, please tell me the beer truck wasnt hurt!
-
My girlfriend is much better about it then my wife was.

pleased to say that I have recently started seeing this young lady, for a start we are both 30, both like computers (she works in IT, me as a freelance 3d artist and I get Tues and wed evenings to my self as shes at her programming course as shes learning 'C'.
But most Important she loves computer games.
I didn't realise that there were such things as attractive females that would be into this stuff, she puts it down to the fact that when she was young her mum was a hippy and they had no TV or technology, which is why shes into it now.
met her at a club and our conversations included stuff like, " what motherboard do you have", "what games your favourite?" etc was very very freaky as normally I have a rule that I must not talk about Computers or surfing (water/waves type), just clicked.
all I can say is Bliss..... :D
search and you shall find, well maybe 1 every 30 years or so :D

I'm engaged and will be married may 16th....My Fiance (nice word huh?) has no problem with my air time...she remembers when I was working 18 hr days as an audio engineer and would drink for hours at the end of a long 2 or 3 day shift...and she remembers me being gone for months on tour. Most of all I think she sees alot of my friends are out in bars and strip joints (or gay like Narsus) and she has decided...better home and happy then out and in trouble.
To keep things fair...I try not to fly currently on the days I get to see her (fri-mon) and if I do...I make sure I give her all the details...each auger, bail, ack hit, and bounce. Sometimes I sneak in a story about how I fly better then Drex and how Lazs asks me for h2h advice...or how I shot down KBall, Leviathan and Fester in one sortie while low on fuel and ammo and missing an elevator.
Either that....or ....its the fact that I wrap her in gaffers tape and beat her within an inch of her life if she complains...
who knows...its a mystery

Leaving mine when taxes come in, 14 1/2 years down the crapper
8 years of child support
Yeah.....

You'd be amazed at how many wives will get VERY upset at their men playing Aces high for 3-4 hours a night......but of course they think nothing of plopping down in front of the Television from 7-11 each and every night.
sigh
Im just not sure why there is such a double standard....its ok to sit and watch meaningless drivel (in my experiences, the wives watch sit coms and the like...not educational stuff like WIngs channel or history channel).......but you taking an active role in a social game are the "one with a problem"
ah well

This one's about a golf game... but it could very well be AH :)

My GF has absolutely no problem with AH - Shes very understanding to begin with - plus she asks me "Are you killing people?" if she can tell Im not paying attention when we're on the phone - kinda cute. :D
Aside from that, I guess she looks at it this way - its a fine alternative to me going out chick hunting.
-
Get up early fly in Am instead - chicks hate the mornings.

Here's one of our wwiiol squad members; Maiden (http://www.stagas.net/lagus/raate_jyskala/dsc00027.jpg).

hmmm... is this the start of the CAWW...err... CAHW? same pronunciation I bet :D
-
I fly (play) in my study at home, around a year ago I was "flying" in a warbirds EMC using roger wilco with a squad, all of a sudden I hear at loud volume the dambusters theme tune, the door flew open and in came my wife and 2 kids (13 and 7) all wearing leather flying helmets and goggles with arms outstretched mimicking aircraft and calling out "roger, over and out" etc.
I must admit it was hilarious and obviously had been planned for a while.
She and the children made the point that I was a touch obsessed with the game and I should spend more time with them, I took the hint and limited my flying to around an hour each evening, whilst my wife chilled out and the kids completed any homework.
Now, I complete the homework with the kids and grab 30 mins here and there when I can, except for the next 5 weeks of course with Niemen starting on Sat nights (for me).

As long as you aren't going through packages of AA batteries.

Here's a good suggestion for those of you just starting a family.
Try naming your children "Stuka" or "Mossie" it will make quality time with the family fly by (so to speak).
Also, if you can work in words like "spitfire" and "mustang" as terms of endearment instead of the usual (and hackneyed) "honey" you'll find that it's almost like flying AH.
All of these things help smooth the matrimonial pathway. I do not recommend the use of "check 6" in the act of coitus.
-
Another problem I don't/can't have.
My sweetie flies and we play tons of other games together and with friends. It's the BEST.
hate me now. :D
-
Since my wife in no way resembled Heather Locklear, Flight Sims reigned supreme.
However.....the Judge had a different opinion.
-
I've pretty much got it made. My wife works nights. Baby is asleep by 9, and if she ain't, there's always the closet (kidding).
It would be nice to have a partner who understood, if not shared in this game. Your a lucky man Kanth. I could only imagine how great our marriage would be if I could get her to log on an hour a week. We'd have so much to talk about!
Geez, most guys have 2 girl fantasies. Mine is simply to share my favorite pastime with my wife.
Pathetic.
Any advice to get her up and flying?
-
Ya Kanth..your a lucky man..

I dunno perhaps some "wow this is great fun how about you come try it with me!! it's not hard at all! I'd love to have you play this with me"
Type stuff usually works, if she's your friend she'll want to do things with you. But at first she'll prolly say no with an (excuse)
Just keep talking it up and expressing that it's something that you'd like to do together with her.
Maybe barter for some stuff that she likes to do that is in the same realm (fun entertainment)
that's the best advice I can think of. :)

My wife no longer complains incesantly about my time spent flying....at least i don't think she does... been real quiet since i bricked her in her sewing room.
-
The trick is give her some great loving, tire the crap out of her and wait till she falls asleep. lol. Every time my girl complains I @#$% the crap out of her, then she could care less what I do.
:D
