It didn't bother me at first, now i just rammed a 262 into a tree on take off getting rid of 200 of my 280 perkies. If it weren't for the trees i'd still have my perks. Please remove them or at least make them not do any damage, it's rediculus at this point

Please HTC remove Homosexual trees from AH. I can deal with heterosexual trees, those don't bother me. But homosexual trees do not belong in the military and they don't belong in AH! Is that a homosexual tree growing on this airfield? REMOVE IT!

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the Maples want their knotholes
And the Oaks ignore their pleas.
The trouble with the Maples
And they're quite convinced their right
They say the Oaks are just too lofty
And too sexually uptight.

Well I'm glad you opted to jest at the user's dilemma rather than address the issue. :)
Another vote to yank the ugly trees. Makes me feel like I'm flying in one of those pop-up villages you build out of cardboard. Just looked better without em and would like to see them go away with the control-c toggle. Its not with the frame hit I'm taking.
Thank you
-
I just rammed 2 262's into tree's taking off from 38 in 10 mins lol. But I like em, more realistic. Save the tree's!!!!!
But you would think that fields from which a 262 could take off from would have longer runways and / or the tree's at the end of the runway would have been cleared by engineers. Third time I got up, but it was still kinda hairy, had to dodge the suckers.
:D
-
Please HTC remove the trees from AH.
It is said many user are unnecessary for, and I am thought too unnecessary, too.
Please REMOVE or User optional.
-
Nice response, Pyro.
And keep the trees, though I've heard they mean instant death for GVs that touch them. Can that be changed? Or could the GVs get better bumpers?

well i love the trees :) i think they are fun to see and even more fun trying to ditch around them :)
but i would like them not soo close to the end of the runway.
wtg ht!!!!!!!!!!! great vers :)
-
trees are definitely cool. i cant understand why they hurt FR though, they're not that graphically intensive.
i vote to keep em in. maybe make medium and large airfields have longer runways though, might be a strategic thing.
-
i like the trees.......when you zoom by all of em realy lo at 500mph it kinda gives you a feeling like you are takeing a risk........danger.....o.O
-
quick question are you guys who are hiiting these trees on take off using auto-takeoff?
I awaiting for a replacement x36 in the mail so I'm only messin offline with a mouse and I get up easy in 262 buff andany hvy fighter at different fields.
I never use auto take off or combat trim. I've found I can get in the air a bit quicker and maintain speed easier using man trim.
-
Save the Trees! They've got Spotted Owls in 'em, dammit!
In all seriousness, they were a great addition, imo.
SOB
-
Leave the trease, kill the guy with the dozer who puts hills at the end of runway's, on felds whear both ends of the runway have hills at theam, wtf is that all about any way, what kinda idot would build a runay into a hill?
-
Trees are needed. I was really hoping they would be signifigant enough for ground vehicles to uses as cover. Unfortunately they're not right now.
I would rather have treelines like the tank simulator M1 Tank Platoon 2 from Microprose or the flight sim Battle of Britain from Rowan.
Hey, your getting there Pyro. Just...well...not to be ungratefull or anything, but....well...couldn't you go the next step?

Yeah, now try a fully loaded lancaster and see what it takes to get off the ground without hitting trees. -- you taxi to the very edge of the airfield square, behind the threshhold, run up the engines as you turn onto the RW direction, roll down the runway, hit two notches of flaps as you pass 100 mph, overrun the runway, hope there aren't any trees blocking the end, then at 120, you pull up as hard as possible while retracting gear, get above treelevel, and hope you have enough juice left to accelerate before you drop back into the trees.
Just as long as there aren't any hills down there you'll be ok.
-
Trees are fine. Just clear away trees from the obvious approaches to the runways.
Its a no brainer ;)
Y
-
Clearcut the bastids! Ignore the greens in here!!
-
I think the trees are great but I agree with Yeager. We have these drunks sat around in the barracks doing nothing most of the time. Can we get their lazy arses out onto the approaches and cut some of the trees down?
-
Hey Creamo - Pyro's a Rush fan.... who'da thunk it?
-
Trees are fine.
Only 1 thing -- eather make runway longer, or (better decision) remove trees the half of runway lenght on the direction on takeoff. Should be not that difficult as far as I understand.
Fariz
-
Keep trees but give me a chain-saw so I can clear runway before takeoff.
-
btw its fun to practise slalom with Lanc when trying to take off from field surrounded by trees. Imagine that situation in WW2:
Pilot: hmm little right after that tree..
co-pilot: NONONO turn left, there's a palm tree behind that one!!
;)
-
Well, not REALY bogging, but yes, I suspect that in RL, trees would be cut down at the end of the runways :)
-
The trouble with the palm trees
(And we're quite convinced we're right)
They are just too damn lofty
And they're hard to see at night
But we can't help our feelings
If we don't like the way they're laid
On the end of runways
And there's nowhere to ditch after a raid
So the players formed a union
And posted on the BBS
"Please remove the runway palmtrees..
They are causing quite a mess.."
Now there would be no more tree discussion
No more complaints their Lanc could not lift off
If HITech would just fix it
With a hatchet,axe and saw..
:D

Mr. Peart is mad.
No tour in Grapevine,TX this year.

Trees are OK.
But :
1. Cut them at the end of runways.
2. Review Tree-vehicle damage model.
In RL Panzer should make damage to tree, not vice versa.
Gie
-
Keep the trees.... BUT remove the trees (and hills!!!) from the end of the runways (and within airfield perimeter) as that is totally unrealistic.
LtHans, love the Rowan Spitfire type trees, very nice!

I second this opinion !
Bottom line is: KEEP THE TREES :D

1.get rid of trees near the end of the runway
2.decrease the amount of trees in grassland tiles, look at the grassland outside, not alot of trees is there
3.increase the amount of trees on forest tiles, for obvious reasons
4.tanks SHOULD be able to run trees over
5.when you crash your aircraft into a tree, the tree should be taken out,and you should still die
6.when your aircraft goes thru the brances,it should maybe take out your engine(s)
-
Keep them, it makes low alt dogfighting more challenging.
But like others have said, prune them around the bases with long runways, but leave them up around the dirt fields. This will encourage people to take the jets and heavy bombers away from the front.
Of course, the vehicle lethality should be a bit less.

Ackkk, it pains me to know many did not get this.
RUN to your nearest CD store and buy HEMISPHERS by Rush.
Not to get this post, but because you don't deserve this dose of this fantastc CD. :)
Rush, The Trees
There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.
The trouble with the maples,
And they're quite convinced the're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can"t help their feelings
If they like the way they"re made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can"t be happy in their shade?
There is trouble in the Forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the Maples scream "Oppression!"
And the Oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

My mom was this total hotshot symphony type pianist... and she taught me two songs that I asked her (cant read, so it was "do this and now do that")... One was Moonlight Sonata and the other one was the Trees. Was kinda funny watching her listening to Rush then figuring it out on piano so she could show me. It took probably three or four... erhm... sessions... and I was no doubt high for most of em...
Mom, piano, trees, weed... Quite a memory. :)
G'bless her.

I did not quite get it, you want Saw, and two other guys, someone "Hatchet" and "Axe", to whine about trees? :)
Saw, are those 2 guys your frieds?
-
Errr can we not just extend the runways? seems to me they are too short for Lanc ops anyway.. ;)
-
It's all about learning to take off, a lanc can start on a shorther distance then the runway, with full load, so can teh 262, learn the trick, and do it. The trees in this worl have to take too much crap from us humans, it's time they give something back, save the trees! Keep the trees!
-
One more "tree bug" :
When shooting 75mm HE, shells get cought by tree branches.
It adds another dimension to tank shooting, but it is totally unrealistic.
Shell either would continue its flight, or it would explode when hits tree and damage/destroy it.
Just make trees "transparent" to shells.
-
At least please:
- remove trees at end of runway
- group trees in landscape, with clear patches in the landscape

Keep the trees , but remove them at the end of the runways.
By the way. make trees and sheeps softer.
If I run a tank over a group of sheeps, I want some broad sheep and no "You have crashed"!
-
I'm kinda wonderin'..
Is the ground full of trees beacuase it's the tropical forest isle of Mindano? Will we be able to see plains in other terrains? Will we get other trees in the Baltics? (Palm tree in the Baltics seem quite erm.. you know .. :) )
-
Hey Creamo, you are surprised that no one picked up on the Rush thing?Hell most of the people that play this game weren't even born when "Hemispheres" came out lol. :D
-
Dude, in 1978, I'll tell you I was indeed born, and into RUSH!
(Ok, I was like...11?!
My point is, fukin aye, these puppies ought to be into RUSH, I was, 23 years ago, and theres proof!

Keep em. Perhaps a little fine-tuning so that contact damage is graduated... ie, grazing a palm with a wing tip should not equate to instant death, but wingtip damage. I love the trees :)
-
Lol, just looked at the post. Your kids smoke pot! What a great fun time.
Paper route (notice the bag), just enough to get some Hawaiian and a Ted Nugent 8 Track.
Whooohoo!
-
Ok people, lets not hijack this thread.Lets get back to discussing why Rush is the greatest band of all time!..
-
Beer for Sirloin!
-
Leave the trees and Rush is cool.
That is all.

I'm a LumberJack and I'm OKAY, sleep all night and work all day....
C'mon everyone ya know the rest, join in!
OR as we say in Oregon
Save a Tree, Eat a Beaver!
-
A true fan cannot keep silent. Man oh man, I seem to recall going through at least three Hemispheres albums while in school, I just played them over and over and over.
And now I'll sing you the words to La Villa Strangiato...
-
sigh...
The more things change, the more they stay the same. :D
I listen to that CD at least 2 times a week at work.
We will call you Cygnus! The God of ballance you shall be!
-
keep the trees, adds alittle thunking to our flying..
-
Wilbus: I tried several times to get a fully loaded lanc off the ground. Now you come here and tell me it is possible to take off such a beast using only the runway. Perhaps you can post a film of such a feat so the rest of us can benefit?
Keep the trees! Get rid of the stupid runways!
-
There's a problem here but it's not Trees!
-
I thought the topic was about gay trees.
Seriously, we're looking at clearing away trees from the runways as well as other improvements.
"what kinda idot would build a runay into a hill?"
I used to fly out of Lindbergh Field in San Diego all the time and thought the same thing. At least we don't put buildings on the top of the hill as well. :D
-
Errr, doubt even a lanc would knock down a Palm tree, nor a Pnzr. Palm tree's tough suckers. Sheep on the other hand?
Err btw Creamo, don't know about Rush? but the bikes pretty cool :D
-
i keep crashing my red barchetta into them but they are cool - keep em. treetop level has a whole new meaning.
-
What the Hay!!!
Noone has called Paul Bunyon and Babe the Blue Ox!!!!http://www.paulbunyantrail.com/talltale.html

I think there a couple of lessons here:
1) Don't fly Me-262s into trees :p
2) Some airfields have runways with 'clear paths' to avoid trees. But you have to look for them.
3) HTC is going to correct trees at the end of the runways so forget the second lesson (I can land with half a wing again..hehe)
4)Pyro is a Rush fan! (Sundog's fire on the horizon). The new Rush album should be out early next year (At least that's the latest info I have).
5) The trees are really cool! Now you have to watch where you ditch (Well for those of us who have had to do that sort of thing ;) ).
6) OK, everybody be quiet. La Villa Stangiato is about to start.
-
I had a friend in high school who looked just like Giddy Lee, the poor bastard!

Get rid of them im having trouble taking off.

Trees are just another step in the direction of realism. Since they're going to be fixed around airfields, keep em in. Eventually I hope they add more and make actual forests, but for now this is a nice start, since we don't want to kill everyone's frame rate just yet.
One thing that has to be fixed: I was driving my M8 towards some sheep and I ran into one. Yes, it killed me. The M-8 flipped. Making the ground objects destroyable would be good. Trees would be tough wtihout bullets, but small bushes and sheep should be "plowable" with a ground vehicle.

I think you forgot to say yet :D I can't hardly wait for the discussion on gay buildings *chuckle*
I love all the eye candy in 1.08. Belly-aching because your flying gets harder or requires more thought is kinda silly though. It seems people gripe about wanting more realism then gripe when it's implemented.
Could someone please explain to me what's not real about people dying when you run into a tree and then go tell Sonny Bono why it's unrealistic...
Of course that's just my $.02
Keep up the good work HTC I'm anxious to see what you put in next!
