Its a gunner chute from a bomber.  You must shoot them at all costs.

Those are powerups.  Shoot them and you get quad damage.

And I should unsquelch channel 1 after I get the power up, right?  So I can hear the enemies that are jealous they didn't get quad damage?  :D

I always thought it stood for 'Gun Ship', i.e., a gunner from a buff chuting.
