Seems most of these problems were probably executed by children, I can relate having a 4 and 7 yr. old.!

Heres a good one:

What's stupid about that? It's SOP when you run out of hd rackets.. I do that all the time when moving data from hd to another :)

Hey i've got a HD taped to the top of my Burner right now .... (had no extra fittign rack for the HD in a CD-Rom sized space ... so ... DUCK-tape to the rescue!) Plus was hard to get 2 IDE cables to hit four drives. 2 hd's master/ 2 cd (one burn one dvd) slave.
I say good thinking .. there's nothing duct tape can't fix!

I had somebody tell me today they found their kitten sitting on top of their CD drive after they left the side of the case off this morning. ;)

Yes, this brings back bad memories. Mostly the one with the CD sticking out of the crack below the CD drive. Several years ago, when my son was old enough to watch dad use the computer, but too young to communicate verbly....
I just put my son to bed, and headed down to the computer room to play some new games I just got for Christmas. I opened the CD case, and it was empty. I opened another, nothing, and another, empty. This can only mean one thing, my son was playing with them. I went up and brought my son to the computer room.
"Tell Daddy where you put the shiney disks?" I asked him. He squatted down and looked under the desk. I watched is eyes, then got on my hands and knees and looked under the desk. I didn't find anything.
I asked again, "Tell Daddy where the shiney diskes are?" This time he pointed to the computer. Ok, maybe he is understanding what I am looking for. I said "Yes, the disks that go in the computer." He points to the computer again.
After several more minutes of frustration, I put him back to bed. Looking at my computer, trying to think like a small child, I saw the edge of a CD in the crack under the drive. I opened the case. Inside the case I found the several scratched up CDs stacked neatly stacked up under the CD drive. Yes, he pushed them all in the crack under the drive. :)
He is now 10, and he knows several of the hardware and software modifications shown on that web site :)

My previous vid card, a GF3 Ti200, had a crappy fan that refused to work (loads of gunk). So I took it off and bought a replacement... the replacement wasnt the right size... I stretched some of the rubber bracers to hold it in place. The rubber bracers broke! Card overheats again, so I perform surgery on the poor little card. I now have the fan in place (and working fine!) with a toothpick and rubber bands :D

...and when those elastics dry out, crack and fail....

Nah, I bought a R9500 pro instead :p

I had to use zip ties to attach a 486 fan to the chip on my VooDoo 3000 per instructions from VooDoo tech support. They didn't understand why I was upset that I had to do backyard maintenance on a card I'd just paid $300 for that was constantly overheating.

a duct tape would also save us from bio or chemi warfares if we are attacked (USA)

what did you need the zip ties for? I had the same problem with the same card. the 486 fan had those 4 little ears where it snapped over the 486 heatsink. if you turned the fan the right way they would hold the 486 fan right on the voodoo sink, stayed on for about 18 months till I replaced the card
ya I was pretty pissed myself having to McGiver a brand new card

The 486 fan I had would not snap onto anything. I had to use zip ties.
