Northampton Class Cruiser, possibly the USS Louisville. Photo likely dates to 1934-35.

My regards,

A member of either the Northhampton or portland classes. The bridge is more Portland, so I would hazard a sentimental guess at the USS Indianapolis.

Have to agree, a Portland.

The 'fighting top/mast' is not as high on the Portlands as was on the Northhampdens.

That was a tough one. The two classes are so similar, and underwent so many modifications over the years it's a hard call to make. The bridge on the Portlands of that period seemed to be more angular in shape. The Northhamptons are similar in shape but more rounded. Then you can start counting portholes :)
