Thought I'd give a try at this model building thing since I got an airbrush for Christmas.  My first thought was to do a F4F-4 Wildcat, specifically the one flown by Joe Bauer the historical C.O. of my AH squad's namesake.  Soooooooooooooo......... anyone got any good pics of his Wildcat? profiles or 3-views would be great but anything would help.  Thanks guys.

I can get you pics from any angle of the F4F we have at the museum.  Only problem is the thing is hanging from the rafters, so shots would be from a looking up perspective....and forget about getting in the cockpit.

I can get you anything you need on the F3F, F6F, TBF, or P-47 if you decide to do one of those.

Are you getting the new 1/32 F4F that Trumpeter is releasing?  If so please give a shout on how that kit looks.

I have no idea what kit I'm going to get, I just started getting interested in model building again.  I was into it as a kid but all my models ended up buried in the backyard after some sort of crash landing... back then I couldn't understand having a plane that you couldn't play with. :)

This is an excellent kit.  There is really only one glaring problem with it.  The cockpit has a solid floor.  The real F4F did not, you could see through the windows in the floor (you can see this a little bit in the F4F in AH, just look down and move your head to the left or right).  The kit builds up very nicely and looks good.

This is from his Medal Of Honor Citation:

For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous courage as Squadron Commander of Marine Fighting Squadron 212 in the South Pacific Area during the period 10 May to 14 November 1942. Volunteering to pilot a fighter plane in defense of our positions on Guadalcanal, Lt. Col. Bauer participated in 2 air battles against enemy bombers and fighters outnumbering our force more than 2 to 1, boldly engaged the enemy and destroyed 1 Japanese bomber in the engagement of 28 September and shot down 4 enemy fighter planes in flames on 3 October, leaving a fifth smoking badly. After successfully leading 26 planes on an over water ferry flight of more than 600 miles on 16 October, Lt. Col. Bauer, while circling to land, sighted a squadron of enemy planes attacking the U.S.S. McFarland. Undaunted by the formidable opposition and with valor above and beyond the call of duty, he engaged the entire squadron and, although alone and his fuel supply nearly exhausted, fought his plane so brilliantly that 4 of the Japanese planes were destroyed before he was forced down by lack of fuel. His intrepid fighting spirit and distinctive ability as a leader and an airman, exemplified in his splendid record of combat achievement, were vital factors in the successful operations in the South Pacific Area.

I'd love to get a three view of his plane too.. A friend of mine is looking for a scheme for his giant 1/4 scale Wildcat.  I can't find any examples on the web of the 212th's Wildcats...

Cc. Hang, it's hard to find pics of the 212th's wildcats at Cactus, most the pics and attention seems to go to Joe Foss, Carl, and Smith (not that they don't deserve due recognition of course). :)
