I heard most people overthere fly with their keyboards so I'm assuming thier FM's suck bad..is that right? Is it worth flying overthere at all?
-
Flying there is like a space sim
-
That's what I heard. Keyboard to fly and you have to hold down the "throttle" key down all the time or your engine cuts out.
Sounds like WWIIOL. Planes are not what make the game.

LOL, yeah, I wouldn't consider it much of a flight sim. It's basically an FPS and a fun one at that. You can drive toejam, float toejam, and fly toejam, but there's no reason to fly with anything other than a mouse. I tried using a joystick once (you can set up different controls for different modes - infantry, vehicle/ship, flight), but it made no difference.

I have that damn game...never ran on my machine.:(
-
I've heard a few people mention that if you are even average here-you can completely dominate overthere....
-
It's not even a comparison. If you're looking for a fun flight sim, BF1942 ain't it.

I only use airplanes to fly behind nme lines and bail out. You can't fly 10 seconds before your off the map. If it claims to be part flightsim, it's the worst flightsim ever.

How does that relate to WW2OL?
-
v1.2 introduced joystick support. I use my throttle, rudder and stick X-36 set-up.
It's not meant to be a serious anything - it's just a pick up and play type of game, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. There's a tonne of freedom to do what you like.
I've got the Road to Rome addon, which introduces new maps, Mosquito, BF110 etc. I think it's excellent.

:D

I thought Hardcase had been 'removed'?
BF1942 is an FPS with vehicles, it's a fun game but don't look for realistic plane or tank handling it's an FPS game and was never intended to be a simulation. the mosquito they added wasnice but it's the bubble nosed Mk IV and yet had forward firing cannon :p

I've always heard that comprehension is the key to reading. I wish you would try....

I will try to type slowly: The above statement means that WW2OL has strengths other than the flight part. Team playing, tanking, infantry, the whole ground scenario. Planes alone certainly doesn't make WW2OL worthy. OK? No one criticized your precious game.

STOP HIJACKING MY FREAKING THREADS DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

A misread on my part.
My precious game?

You're not that clueless Tardcase, you're the ranting fanboy to end all fanboys and you know it.

I used to fly in that game. Now I only play infantry. Its fun even though its an arcade game. The dweebs that fly those planes are worse than our vulchers. No one will dogfight instead they robotically fly back and forth bombing the enemy spawn points for cheap kills.
-
Methinks someone searches the BBS on a regular basis for WW2OL...
Dude... thats sadder than Beet1e doing a search on his name.
-
LOL Rip

As soon as I saw HC's post , first thing I thought was "Damn, what they pay him to scan boards for negative comments for WW2OL?"
Must be a full time job.
Just to funny,..:):D

Just happened in..saw a sim question and went to take a look.
xxxxxx..description of keybaord flying..xxxxxxxx
Sounds Like WW2OL. It read to me like a cheap shot
It is easy to have posts misconstrude.
Glad to see you too SOB.

BF1942 guys try this: On the maps with no Oceans, Jump into a tank and drive towards the enemy base along the edge of the map. (not outside the map but down the side). Position yourself to the left or right of there base and blast tanks and jeeps as they leave there base.
Comming from almost behind them you can get 2-3 hits on them before they even know where U are at. :D
Best is shooting next to a jeep with a tank while he's driving full speed and watching the poor bastard driving lose control. :D :D :D

The planes in bf1942 have reverse too, it's great for when you need to manouver out of hangars.:) I've tried to take off by reversing down the runway, not yet had any success.:D I suck at flying planes in bf1942, flying with a mouse just isn't for me i guess. Tried to config my stick but it always messed up s i gave up.
Haven't played bf1942 recently (i loved geting pings of 11) but i had lots of fun. I used to play as an engineer mosty, my fave tactic was to throw lotsa TNT into a jeep and drive it up near an enemy base. I would hide and wait for some enemy to climb inside and then- KABOOM!!! :D

pfft, I dont need a computer game to float toejam, I can do that any day.
-
flyin is a joke but it's a blast to blow toejam up over 'there'.
-
Tardcase showed up in the thread because we mentioned WWIIOnLine??
Thats nothin... watch this:
Beatlejuice, beatlejuice, beatlejuice.....

i was able to set up my mspp2 with the boxed version of the game / no patch
not to brag, but the only guys who can touch me in there are the ones in the AA guns
another flight sim guy and i usually fly together. it's amazing what air superiority on a map can do.
