Just heard on CNN the capitol is preparing for air attack.
Did I get an ailen anal probe and wake up in an oddly changed parallel reality?
-
Festival of Eid is ending, Hajj is in full swing - ragheads up to no good, everyone jumpy.
-
I thought the same thing this morning when I was listening to the radio about Police Officers (or was it SWAT guys?) armed with German made sub machine guns. (At first I could of sworn I heard MP50s)
Although I am convinced I was abducted by aliens and given an anal probe, I don't want to believe any other explanation for why my bellybutton hurts.

In the UK the latest terrorism threats are thought to be the Government scaremongering the public into being sympathetic towards the need of war. Very interesting indeed! I haven't been at work so I don't know if the military alert has upped as well...

cupcake, gook, raghead, untermenschen - they're all the same to me. The words of a mindless fool unable to cope with the concept of individuality.

It was a thought experiment, putting myself in the shoes of British 'intelligence'. Raghead is quite a common term of abuse of Arabs by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, so I thought the use of the argot would further heighten the humorous intent of my post amongst British naysayers.:D
Personally I think the 'arab world' have still contributed more to the world than they have detracted from it, if such a measurement can be made.
On a more serious note, I don't doubt that real information has led to the current hike in the state of alert.
I'm hoping it's a false alarm. The military and police are concentrating on flightpaths into heathrow, talk is of a SAM attack rather than a hijack.
Unlikely it has anything to do with Iraq however.

Same to me too ...
I don't have a problem calling an arabic terrorist a raghead

Aaaah, that's right... all those on the Hajj are Arabic terrorists!
You wrote it Eagler - 'End of Raghead holiday'.
Better watch it, Eagler. Your true colours are showing.

They may not all be terrorists, but anyone who will stand in a line of 2 million people to throw a couple pebbles at a rock and is willing to be trampled in the process has a screw or two loose.
You seem to be a very understanding individual Dawding, and Im sure that the fine fundamentalist people of the Middle East would recognize this and draw a distiction between the "good" Brits and the "bad" Brits.
-
Ahh yes the peacful religon of Islam. I heard a report that something like 14 people were trampled to death at the point where all thes friggin ragheads go to pray.

Well, when people queue for hours to see the Pope or visit Lourdes or bathe in the Ganges, I think pretty much the same thing. It's called a religious rite. All religions have strange superstitions... it kind of goes with the territory. Each to their own.

I don't see what your point is. That we should stop seeing Muslims as individuals that might not actually be terrorist fundamentalists and instead view them all as little Satans... because they don't see us as inidviduals and views us all as little Satans?
Yeah. Okaaaay...
-
Little Satans?
what a ripoff, I thought we were BIG Satans.

No, my point is that while you are busy drawing disctintions between fundamentalist and moderate Islamic groups (which is a good thing - cant judge anyone by the group... except France) and defending their actions - have you considered that the average Muslim/Arab on the street in Saudi Arabia/Iraq/Iran/etc etc etc doesnt make that distinction? Those that lack the education to know any better understand the "West" to be the reason they need to toejam in their backyard instead of in a toilet.
Quite simply, the lower class, uneducated individuals in the countries in question there dont like you. Period. They dont care what nice things you have to say about them and they dont care how opposed to an invasion of Iraq you may be. You are a godless, money worshipping Westerner and you are attempting to destroy their way of life and infuse fast food restaraunts, CocaCola, and Malboro cigarettes in the place of Mosques, prayer centers, and sand dunes.
The people we're discussing here arent interested in sitting down with you and discussing your respective differences. They want to cause you and your families harm, and the sooner that the "feel good" crowd wakes up and realizes this, the better off we (you and I, since you'll ask) will be.

I have a point about calling all people of middle eastern decent "ragheads":
I sure as hell don't want to be put in the same group as some of the people in this country much less this state (its full of liberal pukes) and I'm sure there are people in the middle east that don't want to be put in the same group as the terrorist.
1 more point, what about that Jonny Jihad dude. White guy raised in the Bay area suburb, was captured in that prison uprising in A-stan where the CIA guy was killed?
Your enemy may look like your friend and your friend may look like your enemy, sometimes the only way you know is by which direction their gun is pointing when the shooting starts. Lets not make this a race war, its about much more than birth place.

I guess that makes you even.

I wonder how many of the 2 million were uneducated and poor. My guess is that it costs money to make the Haje and that a large percentage of those people may even have educations and jobs.
Your post was eloquent Sar, but you start out saying generalization is wrong then you generalize. Whether or not the poor arab who looks up to Osama makes a distinction between liberal or conservative is irrelevant.
We should not use that person as the yardstick for our own behavior.
Calling the Haje(sp?) a "Raghead Holiday" is just wrong.

I nominate Eagler for the Red Herring Post of the Year Award.
How in the Hell he can claim that using racist and derrorigotory names for various ethnic groups is somehow Christian is an insult to Christians. Read the Bible, Eagler- there's no mention of "ragheads," "gooks" or "cupcakes" there.
LOL Damn, bud- that's just about the dumbest thing I heard all day. :)

never said it was Christian, but pls continue to twist my words to try and make a point - whatever that point maybe.
maybe just me but I've never placed "raghead" in the same class/level as your other two. There are much worse words/terms which I'd never use which some use to describe middle eastern types... maybe you can type those out for us too
-
HEY! Don't you roll your eyes at ME Young Lady! I am STILL the Dad, and you are STILL the KID!! If I say to be home by eleven I... Oh, wait a minute...I'm talking to Eagler, not my teenage daughter. Sorry Eagler, when you roll your eyes like that you look just like my daughter. :)
First of all, thank you for being so "politically correct" by using the term "raghead" instead of some more insensitive term for Middle Eastern people. Your sensitivity to people of color is duly noted. As far as me typing even worse names for Arabic people, sorry, but I haven't attended my clan meetings often enough to learn the new terminology for Arabs. Since you started with racially stereotyping names I'll leave it up to you to let us in on the latest derrogotory names for Arabs.
OK, I stand corrected- using racially insensitive names isn't Christian- it's patriotic. Oh well, at least now I understand why the rest of the world fears us more than they do Iraq or North Korea... thanks for the insight.
Oh...and that was STILL the dumbest post I read all day. Sorry.

How would you describe it John? "racially insensitive names" might even be sugarcoating it, but I felt like calling someone a racist for using the term "raghead" was a bit too strong. Anyway Eagler isn't a racist, he's actually a pretty decent guy based upon his posting.

I'm a racist. Everywhere I go, I wanna be first.

Nice one, Hortlund. Where you from again?
Saudaurkar - so we should view all Muslims as extremists?

I'm not. I dislike everyone equally.

"there is no racial bigotry here..."
"...you are all equally worthless."
R. Lee Ermey as Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann, Full Metal Jacket.
I may not share that exact view, and also do my very very best not to group folks into one pool or another. And its not really a bad idea to do the same. Here's why:
As of late i have been trying to decide and understand why someone would take on a mission that will result with 100% efficency their death. Reading documents including Diaries, and interviews with kamakazie pilots, and even german and russian suicide pilots (i saw a promo piece for something on the history channel that will air this week i believe, dont have lots of time to watch t.v.) and their reasons for taking on said mission.
In a nearly 100% concensus, these individuals (men and women, some may know while most do not there was a german female squadron commander and test pilot for suicide planes [hows that for a job??] named Hannah Reich) had a total committment to their cause. Most people today havent any clue what that kind of conviction feels like, to feel so strongly for a cause you will strap on an airplane, or the cheaper method of a bomb, and set out to do the most damage with little more than a will to die. Some of you may have seen this in Vietnam, where sappers were used (though i do not know to what extent, and have no figures) to blow up command tents, and ammo bunkers. Others, we read about it in the newspaper about the Palestine and Isreali situation thats been ongoing since the dawn of their respective religions. While all (and i have no doubt that all reading this post) have witnessed either firsthand or via video the September 11th attacks. Its insane to us, and to me as well which is why I am trying to learn why they do it to maybe even take away that cause. Very few if any of you myself included, have ever felt such conviction to a cause to resort to such an action (or be as heroic, as they see themselves). What needs to be looked into is how to take the romance, if you will, out of being a suicide soldier (of whatever cause) and convey it as an act of hopelessness whos mere implication or indoctrinaion only solidifies one's own causes defeat. A counterargument is "well if they're defeated, die fighting" or "take as many out with me as possible". While that may ring true with many cases, for example if the enemy of the suicide soldier's cause was some sort of evil regime. What is our responsibility to convey is that we aren't some evil force hell bent on conquering the world through military means. We believe in making money, saving lives, and feeling good about ourselves. I firmly believe that we as Americans would use our right to take our grievances to our government and if necessary impeach (yup, we Americans can civilly oust our leaders without a military coux) the president at the time if he wanted to steer America on the manifest destiny from hell. If we were given a chance, I think that what we would do (sticking to the Make money, save lives, and patting ourselves on the back) is somehow devise a way to democritize these countries and use the resources available to get them working to a greater good (i think i heard the response World Peace at the miss usa pageant, can anyone confirm?).
I'll just say that I as an American, and can and will speak for every American (ready your flamethrowers gents, and i'll break out the marshmallows) and say...
"I have no interest in making any other country an exclave of the United States, Enslaving any other cultures, or taking any Imperialistic measures in order to expand the United States."
laymans terms...
