We need one of these on the "Unfriendly Seas" of AH.

An E-Boat would indeed be a nice addition.

Would be cool. Plenty of firepower, 40 Knot top speed and even racks on the back for mines or depth charges should we get submarines in the future.

bet those torpedos/depthcharges on deck would react unfavorably to 50 cal?

As would the staff sitting topside.  Didn't some Tuskeegee Airmen blow one up strafing it in P-40s?  That would kind of stop the "immune to MG bullets" claims wouldn't it?

The tuskeegee airmen flew P-51's only if I remeber correctly.

They were the "men with the red tails" as the 303rd bomber group called them

Even destroyers weren't immune to .50 cal fire in WW2.  Doubt some little kraut skiff is gonna do any better.  :)

The Red-tailed Angels flew the P-40, P-47 and P-51. They had to settle for hand-me-down P-51Cs as white groups transitioned to the P-51D. That was SOP, with the Tuskeegee pilots being last in line for new equipment.

Oh yeah, the P-51C was a Dallas built P-51B, just as the P-51K was a Dallas built P-51D (with a different Aeroproducts prop).

My regards,

Widewing

It would be a player controled boat.

The German E boats(s boats) had armore on them in critical areas, unlike their American counter parts. So in this regard they would be able to asorbe much more damage.

maybe you could "skip" 50 cals across the water to penetrate the unarmored area below the water line. Hell it worked and tanks right?

When bullets impact water they slow down dramatically. By the time it reached the ship, it would have the same effect as a salmon running into the ship...

Good one,

This is a must have boat, and then submarines..with the subs you would have an f3 view above the water, but inside u had to use maps..that would take alot of time..

Oh, I think that you might be slightly inaccurate on this claim sir, have any data to show?  I think ricocheting .50 Cal bullets at angles to water wouldn't be that slow.  According to this site, the hull is wooden planking.  I doubt planking would stop .50 cals at half or 1/3 velocity.

I think you guyes are missing Batz's jab at the BS history chanel statement obut 50cal's being bounced off the road to kill German Tanks.

"Experimentation with S-67 (1942) led to a design for a partially armor plated cupola, the so-called Kalotte (skull cap), over the bridge. The added armor was a countermeasure to the growing firepower of British escort craft encountered in the English channel. The S-100 class (1943) was designed from the start to incorporate the Kalotte and additional armament including a twin 2cm and a 3.7cm gun aft. A final variation, the type 700, was designed to carry two stern firing torpedo tubes in addition to the usual bow mounts and a 3.7cm gun in the bow turret."

Their is a Quote on the sight that above quote came from Whear it states the JFK was able to examine and E-Boat and said it was far supiour to the PT's Boats that the US had.
