Title: Anti-war sentiment
Post by: davidpt40 on February 12, 2003, 06:46:56 PM
At the college I attend, University of Louisville, there are banners and posters hanging everywhere protesting the future war with Iraq.  Not only that, they have actually held protests , debates and such and are schedualing upcomming anti-war marches.  I haven't thought much of it, but today I saw something that really struck my fancy.  It was a sticker on a garbage can that said "Drop Bush, Not Bombs".  For some reason I found that very funny and started laughing.

Now where do I sign up to kill some Iraqis?

Depends on how dirty yah wanna get.. and how yah wanna check out should yer number come up.

Army.. will probably get yah pretty close to the action.. sanitary arrangements and meals ain't all that hot, but you'll probably have the best chance of expressing your opinion personally wearing the green suit.

Marines.. like the army, only a lot more vigorous in they training cycle. Chance of being one of the first to greet saddam.. pretty damn high here. Same considerations regarding hygine and meals while in the field, better chow and hygine than the army when in barracks.

Navy.. ahhh, the navy. The swabbies are very technical and highly regarded when it comes to gettin to the scene of the action. By nature, this service will provide very few days of camping out and you'll be assured of having a hot shower and a good meal on the morning your bellybutton get pasted by a flurry of french exocets. Do not despair tho...

Because the Air Force will avenge you. In the Air force you get good meals, few camp outs, good chow, warm bunks, lots of great training opportunities and the comfort of knowing the planes you fly or service were built by the cheapest bidder. If you can find them.. which as far as the Iraqi's are concerned is a very baaaad thing.

I'm sure there's a recruiting office on campus. Just look for the biggest knot of protesters.

Personally I would think that an Army armored unit would see plenty of action.  Of course being a helicopter door gunner would also supply some action I believe.

LOL.. yup lots of action. Back in my day a door gunners life expctancy was about 20 minutes.

Go infantry.. being in a tank is like riding around in the biggest freakin target on the battlefield. Of course if yah like attention; thats the place to be..

I always viewed the choice of service as the very first in the series of intelligence tests the military establishment gives to new recruits.

Because I don't agree with this fool?

That I don't agree killing people is fun, enjoyable and to be boasted about like your golf handicap?

Then I must be against, by that criterion. And you know what? That doesn't bother me one iota.

I love war. I love it. Death, destruction, blood, guts. Disease, hunger and depravation. It's great. War shouldn't be the last resort - it should be the first resort. Hell, it should be a holdiay resort! Let's ship everyone out there, line up a few of the poor bastards and everyone can have a piece of the action!

War. It's greeeeaaaat!

Personally Ive always liked the infantry, and Ive always been in the infantry one way or the other since I was 18 (military service followed by national guards). Somehow it always makes me feel safer knowing that personal protection and survivability depends alot on your own abilities. To hide, dig, find a nice rock to cover behind etc.

Aircraft and tanks are just targets...although some are harder to kill than others...

Well put Dowding

War hungry imbecilles don't rate highly in my book.

When a war is necessary, one buckles up under grim determination and follows through, trying to end it as quickly as possible.

One does not take pleasure in killing if one is a moral person, IMHO.

Oh come on Dowding.  Boot camp teaches young recruits that killing is fun and exciting.  I'm not of the view that God has a special plan for every person, that each life is special.  Some folks simply need to be killed for the safety (and perhaps entertainment) of others.  Not killing people does not solve problems.  Humans, like all animals, posses the ability to reproduce exponentially (thus producing poverty, insanity, religious fanatacism, terrorism, etc).  Kill the crazies(al queda, Iraqi leaders) let the sane people enjoy life.

mmm, yes, let's kill all the insane people.

An insane sentiment, so perhaps you'd like to start the ball rolling davidpt40?

Pay no attention to the college students protesting - they need something to protest at all times, and this is more interesting than whether chicken nugget day in the cafe should be Wednesday or Thursday.  Garaunteed you will not find ONE Political Science major in that group.

Its really simple - the vast majority of those individuals who are against military action to ensure the safety of US citizens are just as uninformed as those they are jumping on the bandwagon with.  The remainder are only seeking attention.

I'm suddenly a pacifist for thinking that killing people because they are insane is insane? That's insane.
