Discovery channel just told how to make nerve gas.  Hope no terrorists were watching.  Heres how you do it (totally serious).  

Step 1: Take some anti-arthritis medicine that consists of DMSO.  Pretty common stuff.  

Step 2:  Breath pure oxygen for a few minutes.  This accelerates the breakdown of the DMSO into DMSO2

Step 3:  Withdraw some blood into a syringe, making sure it cools to room temperature quickly

Step 4:  You now have DMSO4, a deadly nerve gas.


A hospital withdrew some blood from a patient, and the whole ER passed out.  Just the gas that escaped from a syringe was enough to cause permanent damage to many nurses and doctors.

it is a troll post. Anyone with half a brain(like myself) knows that every major country and terrorist organization knows how to make nerve gas. hire out of work chemistry majors that are not making drugs already.

Ignorant post perhaps, but the show on the discovery channel went into great detail about the nerve gas.

Hypothetical situation-  Terrorist injects himself with massive amounts of DMSO.  He boards an aircraft.  He somehow manages to breathe pure oxygen for a few minutes (now where on an airliner can a person find an oxygen mask?).  He takes out a syringe, or maybe just cuts himself.  Lethal doses of DMSO4 are released in a confined area- airliner cabin.

I bet this will really happen now.

DMSO is also used to treat people. I speak from personal experience. It has a very, very peculiar 'smell'. :)

davidpt40 sound reasoning on your part but what you've just mentioned is basically impossible.

For certain purposes, DMSO is truly amazing. I have used it no small # of times. It does what it does like nothing else can.
