I've read all sorts of rumors that the top speed of U.S. nuclear carriers is *way* in excess of the nominal speed of 33 knots or so; that they can actually plane like speedboats while doing 40-50-60 plus knots.  Any former squids here to enlighten us?

i have seen 50 plus knots out of one guys on board said they were at 100% they can go alot higher safly and more with a little danger . heard storys up to mid 60s never seen it tho

was operations specialist in the nav
