Title: Dispersion model weirdness
Post by: Regurge on February 14, 2003, 02:38:10 PM
Took a P38 sitting on the runway and set the target at 50yds. Fired ~1000rnds of 20mm and got this dispersion. I don't know much about ballistics but I can't imagine why it would have the line on the right with lots of rounds going above and hardly any below. I saw the same thing from 50cal and 151/20, and in both wing and fuselage mounted guns. I took this shot by going to external view and looking at the target from behind, so from the pilot's point of view it is reversed ledt to right.

The planes did not move. This was done with engines off so the "parking brake" was on. Recoil causes some vibration but with nose mouted guns it shouldnt cause any sideways movement.
