Title: Sent e-mail being rejected because of blacklist?
Post by: Mini D on February 15, 2003, 02:47:31 PM
Got this when trying to reply to a friend's e-mail:
Quote
Remote host said: 553 5.3.0 Messages from 63.231.195.112 are refused - This IP is listed on the MAPS blacklist - http://mail-abuse.org - Contact your ISP or mail administrator to resolve.
I've tried checking the IP they list above as well as my own IP and neither appear on the blacklist.  Anyone know anything about this stuff?

I suspect the ISP has not updated the sendmail message coming back to you with the new RBL (real-time blackhole list) service they are using.

Your ISP must have been reported to one of the several RBL sites and that IP address got listed.

Unfortunately, QWest is home to many spammers.

About the only option you have is to call your friend and have him act on your behalf through his ISP to find out the problem.

I had them for dsl but they switched me over to msn.
that went to hell fairly quick so I ended up switching to att.

does qwest do dsl on your side of town or are you on dial-up?

dsl... its qwest providing it.  I used to be Teleport, which I liked, but then they were bought out by earthlink and it went to crap.  Earthlink made you log in, even with DSL and I lost my static IP.  USWest gives you static IP ($5) and no log in is required.
