I just had a friend of mine try AH's tanks in offline mode. This guy was a M1A1 platoon commader stationed in Germany in the late '80s/early '90s. His biggest issue was how akward the control scheme of GVs is right now. His suggested method for a natural, intuitive and more realistic control scheme was:
Throttle = throttle
Rudder = steering
Joystick = gun traverse and elevate
He felt that the throttle and steering should be done that way, even in the drivers position.
He also felt that there needed to be a method to change speed and turret postion from the commander's cupola. He also agreed with the idea that there should be a turret postion indicator so that the position of the turret relative to the hull could be identified quickly and easily.
Another thing he felt would be vital for proper tank combat was for at least two players to be able to man a vehicle as in bombers now, a driver and a gunner/commander.
HiTech,
Would it be possible to get a setup where you could map joystick/throttle/rudder axis to desired controls without hindering gameplay in other fashions?
Thanks

You can have a gunner aboard when yer driving a GV. Gets kinda boring for the driver though :D

Joystick for turret and gun, throttle for throttle and rudder for steering is just how I used to set it up in WWIIOnline when I used to play it. If was *very* effective. I always wished that CRS had of set it up so that I could drive from any crew position. Would have made hunting for hull downs much easier.
Only other refinement I had was mapping a "fine" turret/gun control to my hat switch.

With enough practice you could fire the turret from vision at the pilot's position.

I like this suggestion. We already have throttle working in PT boats.. see no reason why it can't work in gv's..

Any one know how to move to the co-axial MG from position 2 in a tank?

it's the same position. you just need to make sure in umm gunner or vehicle mapping to map the secondary fire button 'b' or whatever you want in that particular setup. by default, for some reason, it's left unmapped.

I'd like my controls...
- left brake throttle left chain
- right brake throttle right chain
- joystick for turret
- view change buttons in turret for fine control

I have never gotten the coax to work on the panzer iv H, I see it therer graphically but it won't shoot for me (where as in M8 and tiger it works fine).

read my reply to seeker... it tells you how.

Gawd yes Please map the throttle to the throttle.
And Steering to the rudders.
And allow gear shifting too from all positions, even from the gunners.
After all this is just a game and it's assumed that these tanks would be fully manned.
Thanks,

and add a driver model* and let us turn out
*driver model is that there is a risk to driving turned out, ie. the soft fleshy bits of the machine are exposed
