While I was coding away and listening to some Pure Moods CD I wondered what everyone else listens to when they work? I listen to rock/jazz/blues generally but my real mood lifting music is classical and easy listening (e.g. Pure Moods). Some of my favorite songs off the top of my head are:
Verve - Sweet Symphony
Smashmouth - Walking on the Sun
? - Life is life
Pure Moods - Makambo
Vivaldi - all
As per playing I can't say I have any favorite music. Preferably something fast and loud (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
For work, sounds of silence, far far away, I need to concentrate.
any other time, anything that is not obnoxious.
anything that the vocalist is not so bad that
they need a loud band to drown em out.

Bad Religion - I Wanna Conquer The World
(suitable for those moments when you're in the flow.
The Sisters Of Mercy- A Rock And A Hard Place
Perfect when Hanhgtime and the rest come swooping down your six and you choose between Instant Death and Death In Five Seconds.
Die Krupps - Fatherland (SoM remix)
Well, I have to justify flying nazi planes (I always thought we were the good guys)
Godsmack - Stay Away From Me
Perfect for those many vs 1 moments
Monty Python - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
HO?!? You STUPID SPIT! Go to FRAG F4U! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Bad Religion - We're Only Gonna Die & Tested
Self explanatory (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Generally prefer heavy melancholic music or fast aggressive. Vivaldi just doesn't fit in to me in AH. Now Wagner is a different matter (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Opera or classical music. Sometimes Jazz.
When flying, I listen to great operas, including:
Puccini: Madama Butterfly, Tosca, La Boheme
Wagner: Der Ring Des Nibelungen("The Ring" for all you unwashed heathens), Tristan und Isolde, Parsifal, The Flying Dutchman, Lohengrin, Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg.
Korngold: Die Todt Stadt, Das Wunder der Heliane, Violanta.
Massenet: Werther, Manon, Thais.
Also, I'm a huge fan of Gustav Mahler, so I usually listen to his symphonies a great deal while flying AH or just sitting at the computer.
Oh yeah, the soundtrack to "This is Spinal Tap" is fun for a change of pace! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
-
Barney music- lot's of it!
I also listen to "Blue's Clues". Man, Steve can sure wail! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I feel stupid, because during flying AH the only thing I listen to is engine of my, as I say it on RW, Speetfire (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
I've got whole bunch of CDs here at work with me, everything from Classical to Techno music. But Enigma beats them all in playing time.

well I don't listen to anything but my F4Us engine when flying... though sometimes I hear myself yelling at my screen when some guy called me a cannon-hog dweeb again, just because I shot him down before he could see my yellow cowling (HTC I WANT DIFFERENT ICONS FOR 1Ds AND 1Cs) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
When not flying its gotta be something with guitars, bass and drums (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
my all time favs:
all Iron Maiden albums, "Powerslave" "The Number of the Beast" "Fear of the Dark" "Live at Donington" and "Brave New World" (the new one) are the best ones though.
Metallica stuff up to the Black Album
REM - End of the World (the song the golfing guy in the SETI lab at the beginning of Independence Day listens to) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
All the In Flames albums, I guess no one knows em but anyway (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
that's about it, I bet I forgot like 90% but I can't think of anything else right now

My music varies on time of year:
Summer time: New Country or 50's-80's Rock.
Fall: Classical music, 18th century stuff (weird huh?)
Winter: Jazz (Rains alot in the NW, Jazz is good music to listen to when dreery outside)
Spring:Easy listening, soft rock and roll, 50's and 60's beebop (Beach boys, etc.)
The only music I DON'T like is hard core rap!

Apache is the only one here with a music list. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Examples: Marshall Tucker, Skynyrd
-
No music at work in the office.
When flying AH also only AH sounds.
Santa's list is quite nice, either hard or melancholic. I add a third option, weird.
Let's see (in no particular order):
Pantera ("Vulgar display of power")
Metallica (the untitled black album, unless they stole my CD out of my car, and I'm not going to buy another one)
Nick Cave ("Kicking against the salamanders", "Tender Prey" and "Murder Ballads")
New Order ("Movement")
Joy Division ("Still")
Hüsker Dü
Bob Mould
Sugar
Wolfsheim (Sadly, IMHO only one really good song, 'This Time' on the 2nd disc of "55578")
Dinosaur Jr.
Buffalo Tom
NoMeansNo
The Hanson Brothers ("Gross misconduct", NoMeansNo fun ramones medley (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif))
The Smiths
Dead Can Dance (Nameless album with the photo of a figure from a french graveyard)
Pink Turns Blue (only the early songs)
Cassandra Complex (also only the early songs)
Neil Young ("Live in Amsterdam")
Sonic Youth ("Daydream Nation", "Goo")
Minutemen
fIREHOSE (did see them live in Bielefeld, Germany - was quite a gig)
The Wolfgang Press (some songs)
Sister Double Happiness (missed to see them in Hann Münden, Germany, just 15km apart from where I live. I still could kick me in the face for that)
The Gun Club ("Miami")
Tindersticks ("Tindersticks", english band, witnessed one of their gigs without knowing them in 'The Papiermühle', near my hometown in germany, and was completely ablaze to withness such a gig at the end of the world (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif))
EA 80 (the early tracks...)
Pixies / Frank Black (well, is wasn't quite the same after the divorce)
Einstürzende Neubauten
John Cale ("Fragments of a rainy season")
John Cale / Lou Reed: ("Songs for Drella")
The Velvet Underground (first album)
The Ramones ("Absolutely Live" - hold breath for 90 minutes (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif))
My all time favourite is the US underground band 'The Residents' - widely unknown since 1972, and playing some of the wildest tunes man withnessed on earth. For starters, get the "American Composer Series II - George and James", featuring cover versions from George Gershwin and James Brown. 2nd tip would be the "God in three persons" Album, use headphones to listen (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I can't generally hear any music over the sound of bullets pinging off the airframe, punching through the fuel tank or making nasty little holes in my flight suit!
Joking aside, in a fighter I listen to Techno music to get the pulse racing, (Republica, the recent Gatecrasher album, Everything But The Girl, Chemical Brothers, the Brain Weekender compilation, etc). Depending on my mood and generally when I'm in a buff on a long run it will be more guitar/bass guitar music or lighter rock, (Strawpeople, SuperGroove, Creed, Billy Idol, etc).
