Finally went ahead and fired new computer up, of course 1st thing to do was download AH again...:). I went ahead and grabbed an X45 while I was gathering parts. Anyway, AH only recognizes 1 hat...in my old X36 it was easy to configure everything with there software. The X45 seems to have a totally different utility...I can't find the hats (or rotory and "rocker") anywhere. Obviously I'm suffering from a "blond moment" . Any help appreciated....had a blast...considering I've been off for 7-8 months but miss having views set right.

xp? win2k? 98? i have the latest drivers for xp/2k, you can set up all switches/rotaries with them. Not sure on the win 98.

I'm running xp (home edition)...everything works just fine. With the oldX36 combo the program to modify dettings was really easy to find and use...in the x45 you get a great pop up for the basic buttons but I can't find where/how to reprogram the roteries, rocker and 2nd hat...or 8 way mouse.

With default XP driver the 2nd hat is seen as 4 DirectX buton (don't ask me why :))
-
any fix straffo...for now I programmed a button (pinkie) as a "5" view and am learning to fly of the 1 hat...figure I can map other stuff to 2nd hat

Search on Saitek site for updated drivers or the dauhzimmer driver (3rd party driver)
I'll post a longuer explaination tomorrow it's a bit late here ;)

when u go into the program software, you have to click on the rotary knob, then go to the programming box for the rotary. you will have to right click (i think) then pick the set band option. you then move the rotary as far as you want one way (not too far if you plan on using the rotary alot), hit the key to set band, then move the knob back accross the center detente the other way until you hit the other position you want, then hit the set band switch again. what you get is a dead center position, then a programmable "button" when you move the button one way, and another "button" when you move the button the other way. You can set up more than two programmable buttons by creating more set points. I just use two for now...what you can't do is use them as analog style rotaries, its digital. Or, you can use the stick setup like eagler was kind enough to attach...but then again, once you learn to program your own, you are the man....."if you give a man a dat file, you help him for a game..if you teach him to program, you help him for all games...."
ok, sorry about the last sentence
