I've been spending most of my tour 6 time in the cockpit of the Bf109G-10 and it has been a huge assitance to my performance. This thing climbs like a bat out of hell, manuevers smartly (not qite as good at turning as could be and has problems at high speed), has good guns and is FAST!!!
Doesn't have enough fuel (had a 2 kill sortie turned into a ditch 50ft from the runway (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)).
Overall I'd have to say that this plane is by far my favorite out of the current selection.

Karnak,
Just dont get too excited diving down on some poor helpless victim and forget that the thing dives like a freaking rock.....................
Herr Goering is working on the problem. But for now, they have me on Ritalin and Im banned from playing AH for this tour. hehee

Best model to pratice your gunnery and patience is when you're carrying 30mm, no gondalas. IMO when you've master that you mastered all the planes because I don't think there's much else thats harder to fly or shoot with than those 30mm and making them count. It's very seldom I run outta fuel before 30mm but my aim's getting better (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

IMHO; the G10 is the king of this sim.. a superb fighter... and possibly Pyro's greatest FM success. By all accounts; this is in fact the Gustav of legend amongst us all.
It's weaknesses are well compensated for by the smart pilot.. frankly; paitience and displine are rewarded in this plane more than most others. It can turn quite well in the vertical; has exemplary climb, is fast as hell and you can punch your adversary out in one pass if your gunnery is competent.
Ugly as sin.. it's an aircraft that lacks grace and telegraphs raw power. It's beauty lies in it's hidden graces.. amatures die in it quickly.. the pro's that fly it routinely are damn near untouchable. No other sim can come close to AH's G10 in degree of difficulty to fly well.. but once mastered, it's any allied pilots worst nightmare.

Hang.
I agree. Pyro has brought the G10 to life in this game. It was quite a process to get it there....
Salute Pyro.
Karnak..
When you go back to the Spit Ix or try out your Spit XIV you will be able to get much more out of it having gained proficiency with the 109. The 190 is even more fun....

Gonna have to go with hblair here Torque, Bf109G is prettier than the Hawg. Then again, I've never been that fond of radial engined fighters, Zero is pretty, Fw190A is alright, other than that they're ugly to me.
Pongo,
I tried the Fw190A-5 a bit, didn't like it as much as the Bf109G-10 though.

Give it time Karnak.
As far as I know the second 109 is rebuilt from a Spanish HS whatever. I dont know where they got the Db605.
-
Dunno bout the second one. The first one is the "black 6" I believe. It was nosed over and heavily damaged in a botched landing and is supposedly being repaired. I used to have the link to the website about it that had all kinds of pics and info about it.
-
The black six is the DB605 that I used to record the 109 sounds that some of us use within AH. Very neat. I have the cruise sounds recorded from within the cockpit. Sounds like a big freakin Harley up there. hehee
As for beauty, nothing compares to the lines of a 109. Except maybe a Dora. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Karnak...to learn to fly the 190A5 at the top of its potential you first need to master Fw190A8. A5 has all the advantages of the A8, except weapons and deck level speed, and it has them magnified (faster rollrate, better Zoom, wonderful vertical maneouvering)...but it has also an improved turnrate, that, even when its better than in A8 ,it still means you'll bleed all your E VERY fast.
If you fly 190A5 like 190A8 you'll gonna rock. But to do it you MUST know A8.

Hblair are these pics from Flight Journal ?
There was an EXCELLENT article about flying "Black 6" by Ray Hanna...
(sadly he died in a crash with a 109 a few month later)
-
Pongo, the black six is truly a german 109, no spanish parts. The engine is an original. Thats what makes the plane so special. As I recall it was captured by the british somewhere in Africa.
-
that 109g10 crashed i thought
-
The first photo hblair posted is of the "Black Six."
The Black Six was discovered intact in the North African desert on November 13, 1942 by Australian forces. Only minor repairs were needed to make it flight worthy. The Luftwaffe had to leave it behind as they hastily retreated to rear bases. It was piloted in combat by Leutnant Heinz Ludemann. It's Allied contempary is considered by many to be the Spitfire Mk5.
On March 17, 1991 the Black 6 flew for the first time in 45 years. It should be noted that the aircraft was restored to absolute perfection. (text taken from CheckFlight Gustav, The Messerschmitt Bf109-g2 Trop, by Aircraft Records)

I was taking about the G10.
It is a Bf109g/Ha-1112 composite owned by Hans Dittes.
Ie they took a spanish Ha-1112 merlin engined 109 and found a Db605 for it somewhere.
NineZ its been too long how are ya!
you playing again...?
-
I had to give it a break in here. The game is just too much fun for me. hehee. I was spending way to much time online.
Ive been flying within Fighter Squadron Screamin Demons Over Europe. A very good sim, especially with the openplane concept. I have an endless number of Allied aircraft to shoot down, and when I make a stupid mistake, the only one that sees is me. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Duckwing, I think they are. A guy in JG77 (a 109 squad I flew with in WB's) sent these pics out to the squaddies several months ago.

Hmmm i have that mag laying next to my bed .. excellent read i can really recommend !!
The article about flying the 109 is especially good
