I guess I'm kind of confused with the new radar settings. Is is realistic to believe that the allies and germans would have spent so much effort installing radar systems everywhere if they only showed their own planes? Granted, WWII aircraft didn't have GPS nor (with a few exceptions) did they have onboard radar, but they did have ground station radar that would relay enemy positions to airborne aircraft. I guess we can live without knowing where the enemy planes are but it's a real pain in the butt climbing to 30k before leaving your own airspace and that seems to be the only way to survive. This also has really solved the bomber problems. Flying a big slow bomber with no AI gunners is suicide. The few I have piloted in 108 have gotten blown apart while I was looking thru the bomb site. Comments?

strike that.. I don't know anything about the radar or strat in 1.08 and am unlikely to learn.

if i remember right the enemy dot radar problem is a bug.
i personally like it :) in mindano, you can do NOE raids and the bad guys really have to hunt to find you. they know youre in the sector, but no clue where.

HT said that it would be fixed monday... most likely.

Ok...Didn't realize it was a bug. I had heard HT asking if folks like it this way so I figured it was done on purpose. Thanks

But I like this radar setting :)
Considering we already have our own GPS updating our positions on map correctly, and sectors are neatly divided out, patrolling the area and really working and trying to find out what caused the sector bars to fire up is really a fun task for me :) (though I admit it might not be so fun for others).

i like it either way

I think its prolly as realistic as possible at the moment. Friendly aircraft could radio there positions to base and I beleive even had radio beacons. Enemy planes where detectable by radar but as the technology was new, approximate positions were possible but were far from exact. WW2 pilots still needed good eyeballs even when the radar systems where working optimally. However I do miss those red dots
:D

I hope they dont "fix" it. It's wonderful how it works now.
I got my usual CT survival span: aprox. 30 secs. :D
Cheers,

I kinda like it like this, I surely haed it when each & every A/C was pintpointed out in the sky (like it has been for a few hours on Saturday night I think).

Leave it as is.

A most fortunate bug!
I like it a lot like it is now...
Btw, you found back your lazs1's password, Lasz? I'll miss lazs2 for sure

I like the dar settings now. Requires you to have better SA. One of the things that I do when I see a distant dot is check my clipboard. No green dot means it is definitely nme, a green dot means it COULD be friendly - adds an element of suspense.
BTW a big salute to HTC on this release. I am continually amazed at the quality of their work. This latest release adds significant new strategy elements that will only become apparent with new maps.
