hehe... bet you had no idea that California could look this desolate. :)
-
People who think California is a beautiful place crack me up.... sure it has it's places but 90+% of it is just butt ugly hehe.
-
Don't get me wrong... I really look forward to the drive out to work in November and December when the sunrise is purple.
I had to go to Virginia to realize just how beautiful this desert is.
I love it.

Have to go read up to get the right dates, but some number of millions of years ago, this area was under water. :)
The pinnacles you see are volcanic I believe. They feel almost like dirty glass.

I've seen what you mean on discovery. They call them "smokers" or something like that. They are vents and the water around them is very warm. Interesting.

Used to make runs to the Pinnacles back in college. Great place to be wacked on drugs... or so we thought at the time.
Surprised I lived.

This is where my friends and I used to go for the same sorta thing in college midnight:

You take them yourself, sandman? Excellent pics.
God, in his infinite wisdom, decided to make England the most boring, safe and hospitable land in the world. We don't have the exciting weather required to make such dramatic, beautiful terrain. :)
-
hmm those pinnacles cry out for a really ambitious sculptor. I can just see Marge, Homer, Bart, Lisa, Maggie... :)

Where exactly were those photos taken?
Looks pretty cool to me. I can see why Hollywood would embrace it. It looks sufficiently "other world"-ish, like the surface of the moon if it had an atmosphere.
