In AH2,aircraft canopies that open,would be more immersive,flying low looking for Gvs,to slide the canopy back for better view or on landing/taking off :) and hear the wind flapping my ears :D
Smoke from engine exausts on starting engine,rl sun glare,be nice to attack from the sun knowing the enemy was truly blinded
Limited icons showing country only,and even then limited range,plane type and distance being left to the pilot to judge.
Bomber damage model that reflects how tough those birds actually were!!!
Airfields that DONT have hills at end of runways making it impossible to up bombers.
AI acks that reflect more 'human' responses,for example,a NOE mission to an enemy field by Mosquitos for example should have a fair amount of surprise,a human gunner wouldnt have a clue where they were untill the very last second when they were upon them,maybe we shouldnt HAVE AI gunners at fields? this would force real folks to man the guns and defend them,no gunners? tough luck,should have defended your base,thats war. :)
Ditching at a field should count as a landing,outside field=ditch.
Would be nice to have downed pilots rescued to have their perk points saved,small planes/seaplanes/Jeeps could be used, with the recuer rewarded with recue perks.
Simple maintenance pads on runways,repairs having to be paid for with perk points,say damaged radiator=40 perks,flaps=20 perks,ailerons=30 perks,only damaged wings,tail,engine etc could NOT be repaired,minor stuff only.
The ability to HAVE to switch on oxygen over 10,000ft, forgetting to do so would result in blackout for certain amount of time due to oxygen starvation,aircraft damage could include damage to your oxygen equipment,limiting your combat ceiling to 10,000ft.
Finally sheep that dont run through thorns and nettles,my legs get cut to shreds and look a sight,Dadrabit has promised me some handcuffs to slow em up,but I fear that might not suffice,please look into this...

I like most of waht you've posted.
About icons etc, I think that the reason that the current setup works quite well is that the graphics/computer technology just don't 'show' what you can really 'see' in the real world.
I like the perk points to fix the aircraft, but I think that this should be low (in the 0.25-1 depending).

i would like to a new graphics engine that is looks great and smooth as the combat flight sumulator 2.
pls NO MORE "ATARI LIKE" graphics on the next version

Basic changes I would like to see.
I would like to have the option of assigning a color to each country rather then have all my enemies one color. That way I could more easily see who the primary threat lies.
In conjuntion with this. I would also like to be able to turn off these blasted chess icons on the map while leaving the feild type Icons in place. The chess icons just create too much clutter. and map the map harder to read
You can leave the hills at the end of some of the feilds as this would be consistant with WWII airfeilds. Some were suitable for bombers, some werent.
I would also like to see map layouts were the closer you got to a countries HQ more concentrated the airfeilds and the harder they should be to capture.
and along with that perhaps even higher concentrations of flak
Bombing runs to the HQ should never be a milkrun
graphically I would like to see secondary explosions when things like the ammo bunkers/factories get hit.
Also Damaged ships should not only suffer damage but they SHOULD smoke when damaged, Feilds smoke, planes smoke, GVs smoke, So should the ships. That was one way pilots used to locate them. at the very LEAST they should trail oil slicks
Yea yea I know some are gonna whine about frame rates. to this I can only say "system maintenance" little things like rebooting your computer before you run AH help alot. but the biggest thing you can do is get rid of all the extra garbage you have running in the background,& on the taskbar. other things like getting rid of that silly screen saver and wallpaper help too. And yanno all those 2 billion little icons you have all over your desktop. Well they dont help either. Try creating catagorised folders and putting em all into folders by catagory if you really HAVE to have em on your desktop. The less icons you have on your desktop the better. they all eat system resources. Doing other things like cleaning out all those cookies and temporary internet files more then once a century help too.
Doing this stuff and other system maintenance wont just help in AH, but you will find your whole system running faster and better.
Im running a dinosour P500, 128 meg of ram and have 64 meg of video ram. I boot up with 90% system resources free and 3 4 items on my task bar . and I RARELY have framerate problems of any kind. Irreguardless of map, terrain, amount of planes in the immediate area, and smoke. And when I do 99% of the time its because I simply didnt boot freash before I started flying.
Now if I can do it with my clunker there is no reason why anyone with newer and better machines cant.

More simulation than eye-candy to me, please:
Realistic engine managment to each plane would be nice.
Some way less accurate icons ie no laser range finder.
More tune vox channels. Squad vox channel, anyone?
Redused hit sprites conserning ammo type & viewing distance.
Make my day. Fly straight!

Make the AI ack 10x powerful for fields that have NO human defense (to stop the lame and unrealistic milkrunning) and fields WITH human defense ack 0.5x + human gunners.

problem with sun effects is you have no easy counter measure as you would in RL
i.e. stick thumb up to sun so you can see nme's wingtips

AH2:ToD wont have field capture and will have server generated missions.
If you want the features you mentioned above added to the main then the gameplay and feedback forum would be the best place to post that request.

We need much better engine management such as cowl flaps and mixture control. Also what about tail wheel lock?

Oh yeah, and buffetting at high angles of attack.

I like the one about the canopy sliding back that would be cool, also if it was made out of glass with transparent reflections of the pilot and the way light refracts when you turn to the sun to make it look like real glass instead of the "no glass" canopy's in the current version.
When you get sprayed with bullets the glass would be full of holes and cracks just like the real thing.
This would make it harder to see but it would add to the realism.

I would like to see where I am damaged more than anything else. Sometimes I don't like just seeing aieleron's missing then have my landing gear fail when I land.

What about some simple navigation equipment like an ADF? If you like to use it then its there, if not just keep using the map.

JOC, you have obviously played CFS2. I agree witht the canopy thing, it would help in dive bombing a lot if maybe if you could lean out of your plane a little or something to see the ground below. It is cool to see little special effects like smoke coming out of the engine, which i hope to see. I would like to see graphics, bailouts, and details from CFS2 put in AHII.

I know this is not exactly the issue you and Siaf are hashing but you were gonna post where you saw the official word that AH2:TOD canned missions will exclude any and all need for transporting troops for capture or reinforcement. Even if players can't run wild capturing fields willy nilly at their own convenience like in the MA ... that doesn't necessarily mean TOD will have static fronts or that whatever changes to the lines will not be reflected in the canned missions the players will be involved in.

ermm, try not to land to hard?
I've never had my gear fail with a proper landing, ie. use of flaps for a slow approach
