According to Bush, removing Saddam will set the stage for peace in the Middle East and a truly democratic Palestine state.
Huh?
We're going to invade Iraq to help Israel?
-
of course!
and according to plan, the rest of the Arab world will envy the Democracy that will have sprouted in a new Iraq, and freedom will ring all over the middle east! Apple pie, baseball and mom's all over the place.

hmm , why didn't you say "We're going to invade Iraq to help Palestine? "
why did you say Israel?, hmm
do you think it has to be either Israel or Palestine, we can't help both??

Sigh... another quote taken out of context.
Bush's speach only hinted at Iraq - and he attacked the situation surrounding it - not the leader himself.
He also stated that a Palestinian state would be created - period - and Israel should immediately stop settlements on occupied land and be prepared to give it back.
Horrible delivery as usual - but good words.
Look past the man and examine his words - he is trying to help - not hurt.

It was pretty much a direct statement of the Wolfwitz Doctrine, which has been covered in other threads and in an excellent Frontline piece. Apparently, as Batz outlined here[ http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79565 ], the neo conservatives have now won out over the containment faction. It is interesting to see the true policy reasoning behind this conflict finally being presented publicly, instead of among beltway insiders and strategic publications. The details can be found here:

Here's a good link on Hussein's nuclear program from the guy who led it up to 1994. Some compelling arguments for action sooner rather than later:

Heaven forbid Bush try to stabilize the middle east! We've been promised a war, so I better see some combat on tv or I will be dissappointed.

Out of context? I don't think so. It's pretty much what he said. When I heard it, my immediate reaction was, "Huh?"
Didn't have the time to run down a transcript of the speech. If I get a chance later tonight, I'll find one.
