The Überfinns - why the Finns were so super in the war?
I believe the following cartoons explain it quite clearly.
Rymy-Eetu, the example of basic Finnish soldier. Capable just as well in air as in ground. Now you understand the 32:1 kill ratio for Brewsters and such, don't you?

"Rymy-Eetu" was drawn by Erkki Tanttu (1907-1985) and the character saw the world first time in 1930. Since that Rymy-Eetu had lots of adventures and after the war started in 1939 he was naturally recruited to the army. Rymy-Eetu became a small propaganda symbol and he had some visible value on that, for example some of the younger children couldn't understand how we could have lost the war - we had Rymy-Eetu, didn't we?
After the war Rymy-Eetu returned back to his civilian life and continued publication in various magazines until 1973.
In total Rymy-Eetu had almost 2000 adventures during four decades. The artist was appointed to professor in 1972 and he recieved highly valued "Puupää-hattu", an annual award for achievements in the comics field, in 1982 which was a glad surprise to the aged Erkki Tanttu.
The Rymy-Eetu comics here and behind the link were drawn between 1939-1944, which shows :)
