Evening all,
I used to be an avid AW3D player, but after a long break I've returned to see the game has all but died. From what I can see, Aces High has taken over as the 'game to play.' Is it worth gettin into? Dont have my joystick at college currently, but I can always get it shipped up ;)
Thanks

It's free till 3/15
Can't beat that.
-
did you say you are in college???
dont do it unless you plan to drop out (cause you'll fail all your classes by missing them to fly)
:D
it truly is the greatest sim ever invented !
-
Do it...however,your grades may suffer.
If you had fun w/ AW3 you'll have a blast here...and you'll see a bunch of old friends.
-
Played it for my last two years at *cough* college *cough* and still managed to graduate. Defintely worth the time and money though.
-
Not "all but" ... sadly. But AH is really cool. Has alot of the stuff we dreamed AWIII would. And ... apparently ... still more to come. :)

Don't do it. Finnish College first then let AH ruin your new career. AH is worse than crack!!!
I love this game!! Can't get enough.:D

Bah, just gotta have discipline. No playing AH during the week.
...unless I really don't want to do schoolwork.

You will never find anyone who did less and still graduated from LSU law in your life thanx to AW. Now I'm in AH instead of taking files home or playing golf.
"Didn'y you hear what I said, tell 'em I'm on a "conference call" so I can land these kills!" Geez a good secretary is hard to find.

"Worth it?"

Most definitely! I played AW from June 1998 until its demise in December 2001.... fortunately, I had already started playing here as well in April 2001, so although I was very sad to see AW die, I was already getting used to AH. I've now settled here and believe Aces High to be all that we ever wished for in AW, and more. It really is worth the effort of getting used to the differences, with so many different aspects of game play. Give it a try, you won't regret it! :D

Here is myshort evaluation (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80032) of AH (and the responses), though admittedly I haven't been in it more than half a dozen times. I tried AW3 for several months, long enough to get to know a few of the guys pretty well. Didn't care a great deal for the game, but the people I knew were great fellows. AH is by far superior to AW, even at it's best, in respect to gameplay. You may find the community isn't as warm, though as the saying goes, your mileage may vary. I've been flying Warbirds for quite awhile and, while the sim doesn't compare favorably with AH and is more expensive, the people who fly it seem to be, on the whole, a more helpful and far less antagonistic lot. I'd recommend trying both, though you'll probably find AH more to your liking, as far as the game goes.
-
There is also Fighter Ace out there as well. I don't know what you were into while playing AW, but you might want to look that way as well.
Hope you give AH a chance though.

Finally the lyrics from an old song makes sense to my foreign ears:
We've got college boys from LSU,
went in dumb,
came out dumb too,
hustling 'round Atlanta in their alligator shoes,
getting drunk every weekend at the barbeques,
cant remember anymore... Is it the right LSU? ;)
-
Ya, LSU undergrad is pretty much a drunken party school.
The law center is a different story however, they flunk out 35% to 40% of the 1st year students.

Many of us in this community are made up of members of the former Air Warrior community..... ;)

LOL, don't worry JoeDirt..... all it means is there is an offer on at the moment for a free trial until 3/15..... nothing sinister. Just means we have a lot of "free trial" players in the game at the moment.... :)
