LONDON - Some of the peace activists who went to Iraq to serve as human shields in the event of war returned home, fearing for their safety, a spokesman said Sunday.

Uh...exactly how dumb can these people get? I mean I knew they were pretty damn dumb, but this has got to take the prize...
"Human shields leave Iraq...fear for own safety."
heheHAHA *laughs alot actually*

They're idiots anyway :)
Lots of those people has been in several different protests and what ever..
Makes you think it is just their hobby to go at every protest regardless of its purpose, just to be there.
bit like those english football hooligans.

Actually in the usa there are people who organize those spontaneus protests for a living...

Apparently these brave human shields were quite content to deploy themselves at hospitals, orphanages and baby-milk factories, but the Iraqi government asked them to go to army barracks, communications centres and power stations.
It seems that they did not like the idea of actually going to places that might get bombed in a war.
"We ain't gonna sit, where we might get hit".

The fact that pumping a couple of paveways into a target might vaporize a group of these tree huggers isn't a deterrent.
Its bonus points.

Look at it this way, they decided to become human shields which is about the stupidest thing a human can do, short of backing over yourself with your own car.
They made a big deal out of it so that everyone in the world would take notice of their actions.
Then, not only do they not have the intestinal fortitude to stick by what they believe in, but they also aren't honorable enough to do it anyway because they said they would to the world and to the iraqi people that they care so much about.
Personally, I think every single one of them that deserted the Iraqi people should be identified in a national database (like sex offenders) as deserters of human shielding.
But I guess I'll have to settle for the knowledge of their self-loathing and possibly be entertained by their addition to the darwin awards later on in their careers.

Give them a break, they have good intentions, that's all though just good intentions:) Well meaning people who stepped forward with their good intentions. Look at what they would guard, places that would never be bombed except in error. I don't blame them for leaving as it is very difficult to see home-made placards from 20,000 ft!

"Now we are being told we cannot go to certain sites, such as hospitals, so we are reassessing our strategy," he said.
This is the type of stuff that really gets me. People really think the USA has a strategy of bombing hospitals?
You know who will use the hospitalized as shields, Saddam. As in the Vietnam War, they make great places to install AAA guns on the rooftops and certain military functions within. I wonder if this is the reason these human-sheilds cannot go in.
