I liked the 'guess the song' thread from a couple of days ago. I lost track of where we where at when it degenerated into a ‘rap sucks’ debate though.
So let’s try again.
I’ll start it off with an older one
And the gold rolled through his veins
Like a thousand railroad trains
And eased his mind in the hours that he’d chose
While his kids ran ‘round wear’n other peoples’ clothes
-
Illegal smile, John Prine
-
right artist, wrong song
-
Sam Stone?
-
Yeah, my mistake, it's Sam Stone
-
yep, now your turn put up some lyrics for the next round.
-
And if you think I'm ready
You may lead me to the castle
Where the rivers of our vision
Flow into one another
-
Wasn't Born to Follow by The Birds?
(thanks for starting this up again capt!)
-
Yep... but Byrds ;)

-
Funny that song came up... I just watched Easy Rider this weekend :)
Thinking how it used to be,
Does she still remember times like these?
To think of us again?
And I do.
-
"We gave her everything we owned just to sit at her table
just a smile would lighten everything"
-

Now he's marching soldiers in the rain
As on to war they rode.
A long thin line of human mind,
Damnation as their load!
-

The song is "Harold Land" by Yes.
I saw Yes open for Jethro Tull in 1971 for $4.50. What a show!

"I had my first love at thirteen, she was brown and I was pretty green"

Animals..
When I was Young
-
Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

My Back Pages

"My Back Pages" by Bob Dylan.

This is not the way it seems
Purple words on a grey background
To be a woman and to be turned down"

-
should be easy---
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
-
I believe that Octavius was the last winner and should be posting his lyrics. Unless, of course, he defers to someone else.
:)
-

-
LOL, that goes back two rounds actually. Lucky I have something already picked out
Its a tad more modern...
I am nothing
In the dark
And the clouds burst
To show the daylight
-
"She looked over at me with a glazed eye And some bovine perspiration on her upper lip area
And she said...
Just get me wasted
An' you're half-way there
'Cause if my mind's tore up
Then my body don't care
I rubbed my chinny-chin-chin
An' said my-my-my
What sort of thing
Might this lady get high upon?"
dh
