Ok, now think really hard what do you wish to see in Aces High. Then think something that you definitely don't want to see in Aces High.
My votes:
Most wanted - Dynamic environment that stimulates tactical thinking and rewards other skills than ACM too.
Least wanted - misuse of AI. I definitely don't want to see bomber flying around fields killing fighters with their AI controlled guns.
So there! Give developers idea what to do and what to avoid!
Voice your opinion, now is the time to (try) affect to the oncoming game!

Most?
1 A Fantastic damage model.
2 Accurate flight model.
3 Three channels for coms. (mostly for scenario use. one for squad, two for escort tac and three for countrywide comms from CO's)
4 Voice coms
Least:
1. A FM so complicated I can't enjoy
myself too. If I want to have every bell & whistle I might as well fly offline for all the social interaction I'd be able to have.
2 User riggable/changeable artwork/software.
I like being able to use aircraft markings that are seasonal, squadron or group and/or theatre accurate, like one of the sims out there, but I do not like being able to eliminate art for a "clear" window nor should I be able to have a a Tie fighter gunsite.

What I want most: Dynamic engine controls, all the bells and whistles (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
What I don't want: Auto gunners.

Gotta have otto ik.
You know as well as I do that without, the bombers would travel unarmed.

Dynamic engine controls, all the bells and whistles
Doesn't matter, I would fly FW 190 and it had hydraulic computer to do all that work for me (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
God I love that beast! Just got Alfred Price's book Focke Wulf FW 190 In Combat. There is picture of FW 190A-8 with two wire guided air-to-air missiles in standard wing hardpoints and picture of guidance joystick in cocpit. Range was 3 km. Those folks were geniuses, evil ones but geniuses alltogether.
If we are going to have Otto (or what his name will be?) it must have strict G and angle limits to discourage use as and offensive weapon.

Most Wanted: Gunjams. In RL, pilots had fire in short bursts in order to lessen the chance of a jam. Spray and Pray should rewarded with six locked up guns. Being forced to aim and fire carefully would add a new dimension to the game.
Least Wanted: Complicated engine management. Yeah, it's not realistic, but I don't have a mixture knob or a boost control on my joystick.
------------------
-
Most:
Mouse clickable gun charging and safety control boxes mounted on insturment panel.
As realistic an engine management system as HTC deems proper for AH including proper cowl flap control and propeller pitch control.
Starter cartridge sound and belching smoke on startup (max visceral immersion).
Proper blower, nitrous, water/methanol injection controls for individual airplanes.
All planes start from revetments instead of on the runway.
Proper engine fire model (similar to DoA but maybe more sophisticated).
Loss of engine power modeled for overheated engines.
Least:
Anything that ultimately limits the ultimate perfection of AH as a immersive and profound sim/game. I hope AH always progresses toward not only being a fun game, but also being an entertaining and educational experience. There are far too many worthless fantasy games and far too few games/sims that leave me with a sense of being a little wiser concerning real world situations. WWII will never be fought again nor will any war using that periods technology. Focus on making as enjoyable of an experience as you can while still allowing the players to sense as profoundly as possible how our courageous forefathers lived and died and I'll proudly be your guest for life.
I suppose it takes a finely tuned mix of eye candy, engeneering, and balls out action to make something like this work. Best of luck to you guys on your journey!

You mean "FW 190 in Action"?
Are there other books in that series available (109 in Action, Spit in Action)?
If so, who stocks em? I remember ordering my FW book at Amazon.com, but I couldn t find any other volumes of the series.

Sacsha, its really Focke Wulf Fw 190 in combat. Interviews of Kurt Tank (designer) and test and several combat pilots. Not much very detailed tech bit unfortunately. Several good pictures of Fw 190 cocpit, I think I will build one for miself ):
I bought mine from Finland but www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) has it too.

ok you're right, we need auto gunners. But I don't want ackwagon capable gunners, that's fair enough I think.

AI Otto is ok IF[/] if it acts like real one ie. is suspectible to G forces and does not fire after wings has parted the plane. This will prevent it's use as ackwagon still allowing it's historical use when flying like bombers flew.

Sasha, Squadron/Signal Publications has a whole raft of in action books, including Spitfire in Action, Me-109 in Action, FW-190 in Action, Hurricane in Action, you name it. Here is a site that sells most of them: http://www.greatmodels.com/book.htm (http://www.greatmodels.com/book.htm) .
You kind of have to look around to find them. You can also get them from http://www.squadron.com (http://www.squadron.com) but they do not list all the titles on their website(which sucks in my opinion).

Like 1. Clouds,
I want clouds the most.
But weather will be good.
Wanna try and land in a light fog. A gentle breeze, a light rain.
Like 2. Realistic Damage Model.
Very Important. If I hit someones engine, I don't want him to be able to fly away faster than I can fly my undamaged aircraft. If I knock a cylinder head off a Radial, he better fly in fits and starts.
Dislike 1. Disco's. Disco's Discos.
I should have made a Steady Stable connection my number one want.
Dislike 2. see dislike 1.

WANTED: Decent Buff AI.. (no Floating Flak Panzers please)
Options to shut off/turn on Com Channels. (perhaps switches in ready room/tower/preflight area
Launch from revetment, Not runway.
(if yer gonna fly realistic, drive realistic)
Search and Rescue/clandestine insertion operations.

Most wanted: A little rubber ducky. He can swim around and around in the oceans and rivers. You can change his skin from a yellow bathtub duck to a more historicaly accurate mallard skin. When you press a button, he makes a realistic audible "Quack!"(tm). You can trim the duck for high alt migratory flight, or deploy webbed feet for water transit.
Least wanted: Flamewar concerning "Duck wing area physics", "Incorect duck bill model." or "This duck is Porked!!!"

OH NO! The duck conspiracy has moved from that other game into here!
HT, Pyro, can you please assure us that AH will be free of the uber-ducks?

Yep it's moved but at least we do have sheep.
And you can even chase them with your plane.

Funny you should say that now, someone on A.G.W wondered yesterday where's the sheep from Playnet's or HTC's plans. Guess you got that one covered.

Any way to get cows too? I've never chased sheep in a real aircraft, but whenever I see cows out about on the Mesa, I chase em... See, I could validate your cow model (and we all know how important a good livestock model can be to an online combat sim).
-blk-- <JG5>
PS-you know that the average cow gets tired of running away from an airplane after 3 miles?

Most unwanted. collision bubble.

How about weather, as in selecting wind, wind speed, direction, (turbulance?) offline.
I get a big kick out of practicing crosswind landings.
I guess this begs the question I havn't seen yet:
Will there be dynamic or even static weather conditions online?

I suppose for me I would want to see as realistic a flight model as possible. I am not so much crazy about eye candy if it impedes frame rates etc. But, if a ship should spin or stall, then it should spin and stall and require some effort to correct.
I would also like NOT to see what some of you refer to as OTTO. From what I have heard from those who have flown WB and also accounts on the WB BB, OTTO is/was the bane of WB, and not very realsitic. Or, if it is absolutely necessary, then make it more realistic than it was/is eg. if a fiter approaches slow and comes directly within a "reasonable range" of a buffs guns, then that fiter should get shot up. I heard the accuracy on those things in WB was/is uncanny.
I would also like to see the ability to develop one's own gun/dive bomb sights. A nice feature I learned about when I flew WB offline and during one of the open weekend periods.
-
Oh yeah, and an alligator to eat that rubber ducky that ac wrote about <EG>
-
Most wanted? Hmmm. I'm assuming we're talking about something that's NOT already modeled in Warbirds, since obviously we all expect AH to be at least that good (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
So...how about more realistic field attack and airplane scrambles?
Put little airplane "targets" out on the tarmac. Those would be the "spawn" points for the player-planes. Then, either a "man" model that you could "run" out to your plane, or a graphic view from the tower of a little "you" figure running out there. Both "mini-you" and the planes could be strafed and destroyed of course (I wouldn't charge you a life for having your "man" killed, but I WOULD bounce you back to the tower to start again--after all, running around in the open at a field under attack is not very smart) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
When "you" get to one of the airplane shapes, your selected plane spawns there. Then, no instant perfect engine baloney. Start sequence should take at least a few seconds before you can start taxiing around. Make the "ground" you're parked on different from the runway surface, and give ONLY soft-field capable planes the ability to take off any which way--other types gotta taxi to the runway or risk getting stuck, or worse.
Meanwhile the guys attacking the field are attacking its MAIN assets: not the acks, not the fuel, but the PLANES. If they manage to kill em all, great; the field is now closed until somebody brings in another plane to "regenerate" one of the spawning points. If multiple plane targets are still "alive," you have defending planes spawning all over the field, not just in a predictable, "vulch me please" position on the runway.
Then, build in "anti-vulchfest" coding, so that if the vulch-dweebs left just one or two airplane targets intact so they could vulch those spots endlessly, 3 minutes later, two more spots would regenerate, doubling every 3 minutes until, say, half the original spots were active again (airplanes from the hangars being scrambled).
Man, I love this idea! Wish someone would try it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
OK, least wanted feature: airframe shake when hit seems kinda useless (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Not too fired up about complex engine and prop controls either, but I sense the tide is against me (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

OK, least wanted feature: airframe shake when hit seems kinda useless
I think it would be neat. If the shake, rattle and roll (and sound) depends on location you got hit and the gun that made that damage, it would be really nice immersion factor. Instead of looking to radio buffer, you almost could guess that you just lost something from your rear end when planes tail suddenly jumps up and left.
Some pretty much wanted features!!!
When you are hit in some control surface, make it absorb damage and lose efficiency gradually before it's completely useless!
If you hit control surface with heavy hitting gun like Mk 108 30 mm, make the fuselage or wing near it take some damage too!
Accumulating damage to wing or fuselage would cause it to lose efficiency and durability!

Damage modelling similar to Janes WW2 Fighters would be neat:
When a critical part of your AC is hit it doesn t automatically "vanish" but the damage accumulates until it s totally destroyed. The first few pings to an aileron for example would just degrade your ability to roll. If that aileron takes more damage rolling would become even harder. The next stage of damage would destroy that aileron. Of course the wing near the aileron should take collateral damage too, if the hits are scored with i.e. cannon (exploding) ammo.
These different stages of "destruction" should be made visible on the FE. Again I have to refer to "WW2 Fighters": The damaged planes in there look pretty cool: Slight damage is sometimes almost invisible, while heavily damaged planes look like zombies with their aluminum skeleton showing where the skin has been stripped away by enemy fire.
Gun recoil should be modelled too: Firing strong wing mounted armement out of synch should in some way interfere with your aim.
Muzzle flashs are cool, but I think when a gun is travelling at 200 mph or faster you wouldn t see a 6 foot flame shooting out of its muzzle.
Least wanted? Errr..dunno..anything that is bad about WB and AW I guess.. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

We are all listing quite a few things which if possible to do would be great but.....
It seems to me if ALL of these things were added, wouldn't they tax most systems, especially those PC's that are mere PII and say under 450 Mhz? For me, I sure wouldn't wanna risk playability for the sake of neato graphics or sounds.
I do like the notion of a realistic damage model though, and the idea of accumulated damage even more. It takes a lot of skill to nurse a wounded ship home; almost as much as solid acm.

I'm curious if '.wav' or '.dll' files will be modifiable as they were in WB. Will Bradburger, Corn, Voxx, and Brro's sounds still be a viable possibility with AH?
