Was wondering if we will be getting an update to the damage model that would allow a player to visually inspect his/another aircraft for damage.
With the current model, your aircraft can take several hits and show no visible damage at all. Because of this, you cannot tell if all the hits happened in one spot (say all on the left aileron) or spread out over a wide area.
By being able to see where hits were taken, a pilot could better determine if he had better go home now, or if his aircraft is OK to continue on the mission.
It's very frustrating if your wing has 99 of 100 available hit points, but to look at, you would never know it. Then, some stray 7.62mm bullet deals you the death blow.

Not a bad idea. I ran into this issue last night after getting tangled up with a P47 I lost my right "wing" and aeileron but somehow still had my flaps. Anyway I turned for home at a reduced speed because I could not hold it level with full throttle. As I approached the base to land I could lower my flaps and could manuver much better but still ended up crashing and dieing on landing because my right landing gear collapsed on landing. Yet the red text for damaged systems never showed my landing gear as being damaged. It would be nice to know where those bullets and cannon rounds were heading and what they effected when you got shot.

I would like to see plane damage like bullet holes ect...
If you have ever played Rowan's Battle of Britain you can see
every single bulet hole ,even in the cockpit.
I am all for bullet holes ,flat tires on gear,...the list gose on and on.;)

Even just a mod to the CTRL-D damage listing, showing damaged but not destroyed components in Yellow text, would be an improvement.

Great idea Oboe. That simple addition would at least let you know what components have been hit.

I prefer a gear indicator on the dash that tells me if I have a problem with one or more.

I'm not very sure, but almost every time I see an real WW2 film, I see that with just a few rounds the plane that gets hit catches on fire. I dont see this happen in AH very much, but thats probably because most pilots use deadly planes will kill you with just a few hits, but at least bombers should have thier engines catch on fire more often. Also, sometimes when i find myself shooting at a plane from above, i can clearly see that the rounds are going through the cockpit, yet I rarely get a pilot kill that way.
