plane looks a bit worse than a AH plane at similar resolution (i hope to god compression is to blame...)

of course the absalute maximum resolution in AH with 6x antialiasing is supposed to look insanely good (look at mine in second best res and 4x aa)

and really who notices the terrain when there in a dogfight (ok maybe the water...at the last possible minute at night)

frank i took that in 1280*1024 resolution with 4x antialiasing...

and yes i admit it...does look fairly good...but youd excpect a box game to...

jug and pony for example.

jug in 1024 res, pony in 1280 res

9700 pro with all the candy.. 60fps in 1280, 85fps (monitor capped) in in 1024.

I don't think the AI is 'buffed up', using 'unrealistic performance' like it used to in IL-2.. but the problem is, incredibly, they know almost every tactic and moves to counter yours!! And they freakin' execute it with excellence.. no mistakes! :mad:

Man, all the advanced techs.. such as high yo-yo countering, rolling scissors, suckering into a turn fight... The only way I could beat those AIs is by using better planes than they have.. !

Boy did my ego take a hit! Beat by a digital brain..! :mad:

Post by: Reschke on March 10, 2003, 10:28:46 PM: Well they are supposed to beat you. :D That is one of my little tiny probs with IL-2 past and it appears to be that way here in FB. The AI is infallable. Nothing you do will make them waver or hesitate for one tiny fraction of a second. On the other hand your wingmen in IL-2 would invariably go after the target that you were hunting and they would allow you to get hammered even after they responded to your calls for help. At least that is what I experienced. Still though I think IL-2 is the best flight sim (boxed) to happen in quite a while and it set the goal higher for all boxed sims to come later.

I have tracks as well.

They have moves they do over and over. At the merge if you get lower then the ai and slightly off to the right (his left)they will dive at you for a shot. You need to manuver a bit so you dont get hit but the ai will dive down to the left and circle around. After the ai misses if you go vert then roll back to your right you can see him all the way. The ai will then pull his nose up to chase you. All you need to do is reverse back down on him and fire. Be sure you dont collide.

The problem I have in FB is the 30mm. The take multiple hits and still can fly at max performance unless you hit their eng.

That el gay 7 in the pic above took 3 3cm hits. The p51 took 4. In the 51 pic that shows just a sec before hes blown to bits.

There is a sub-program that u can use to show those arrows in the game. You see amazing stuff.
As an example,
I got shot from dead six by a Buffalo on my P47. Most of the bullets enter by my rear cone, section my rudder cable. As they hit the turbo-surpercharger, you see them bouncing away up/dow/side! Not bad. I've seen bullets bounce off the wings of an IL2 on shallow deflection shooting.

IL2 FB is really awsome for the immersion factor, when I come back to AH ... ouch... And I'm in AH since Beta:D

Other damages, I got my prop hub shot, lost the oil and had no RPM control. I had throttle stuck full open while hit in a dogfight.

Oh I also had bullets flying above my head from my high six, hit in the engine and bounce back in my chest:mad:

Those arrows are enabled in IL-2:Forgotten battles by opening the CONF.INI and finding a line called Arcade=0. Change this to 1 and those arrows appear, but also cartoon bubbles ;) It is useful to evaluate hits with the thingmie.

I didn't find it in the conf.ini of FB, only in the one from IL2. Do you have it? Do you run a US version?
