Sorry, I know it's been lacking lately. We'll try and get some new screenshots together this week. The exterior of the B-17 is just about complete as are the gauges on the P-51.
HT's been wringing framerate out of the graphics engine, implementing more gauges, finishing up details in the flight model, and a bunch of other stuff. I'll start working on individual plane modeling in earnest. (Oz, don't ask me who earnest is) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Superfly has been making buildings and terrain objects. Ronni is working on the scoring system/database/webpage. Nate is working on the B-17 shape and JoAnn is working on biz stuff.
Cool item: bullets hitting the water. That will look really nice once HT's temporary artwork is replaced.
The gauges on the 51 are:
Ordnance indicators/counters - Yeah, I know. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Flap indicator. It didn't have one of these either.
Manifold Pressure
Tachometer
Engine Temp
Fuel Quantity
Fuel Tank Selected
Artificial Horizon
Tape Compass
Dial Compass
Airspeed Indicator
Altimeter
Turn and Bank Indicator
Slip Indicator
Rate of Climb Indicator
Accelerometer
Oil Pressure
Clock
Today we spent a lot of time discussing implementation of manual prop pitch control. We don't know yet if that's the way we're going to go, but we are thinking about it. There's been some pretty good ideas on this board about the subject. The nice thing to see in these discussions has been the understanding of the needs of the game, the entire potential player base, and developers.

Jeez Pyro, come on. Earnest has made enough movies that oz sure we all know who he is by now. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
The real question being, who is this Will character and why are we always metaphorically firing at him?

Pryo I believe the trun and bank and the slip indicator are the same. That is a little u shaped thing with a ball in it filled with liquid. I say this not to flame anyone but only because I work on the avionics of A major airline in the fort worth area. I see enough guages to tired of them. Anybody ever see the new RB211 Trent that the 777 has on it you can stand in the intake area.

yeah, I think indian's right. I don't know what on earch you guys are modelling pyro.
I know what a turn and slip indicator is. I know what a turn coordinator is (oooh, hate em). I know what an inclinometer is...
The P-51D's I'm familiar with have Turn and Slip indicators...

"I know what a turn coordinator is (oooh, hate em). "
I always thought I was the Turn Coordinator.
I know it's a lame joke but things are kinda slow at the office today (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Sorry...

This is what you are referring to. There is an additional slip indicator that we are mounting to the gunsights. I know that not all gunsights had this feature, but we put it there to compensate for the lack of feel.
We're also sticking in some trim indicators.

Hmmmm..yummy! Does this come from an AH cockpit pyro? If so, please "zoom out" a bit and post the picture again. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

PYRO Nice work looks great. Should have known better then to question the expert on games. ne question though how does this help gunners I cant hit the broad side of a barn in gunner position, probably help the lead some give slight indication of agnle of plane I guess.

Trim Indicators! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Been waiting on that one for a long time. No more questions like "does 15 presses of the button get me 7 degrees of flap?" Damn fine addition guys.
BTW the F4U's yaw and roll indicators are located on the top of their respective horizontally mounted trim wheels. The pitch indicator is located just to the left of the large vertically mounted trim wheel. Not sure if your going for that much detail but thought I'd throw a line and see what I could reel in. Yes PYRO Pretty Please with a promise of your favorite drink some more pictures. I want eye candy or somthing to look at while waiting.
Just a little peek
You know sort of like the window dressings they have in Bodo Norway, where they give you a peek at the merchandise before you buy.

That guage sure looks nice. Are the guage's light/shading going to be dynamic?
Is the view angle going to be the same as in the old sim? Erm, wasn't that 45deg? Something about that view angle made perspective come out nice, especially when switching views.
-
That gauge is just cut out of a screen shot of the dash. Yes they are dynamicly shaded.
The default view angle is 90 deg just like in WB but you can adjust the view angle to anything you like. Along with putting your head where ever you like.
HiTech
-
Wow adjustable view angle - I can't wait to play with that! I wonder what the SA vs. targeting implications will be? For a wider view angle I suppose SA will increase(duh), but won't the target size will have to be smaller? Estimating lead angles could be interesting...
Will we be able to change the view angle in flight? This is going to be wild!

Hmm,
has Pyro already posted this pic?
I mean, it's from his web directory (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Dancer out.
PS: anyone can identify all the bullets?
-
PS: anyone can identify all the bullets?
Can't quite see the markings on the rounds really but here are some wild guesses.
left to right:
7.92 mm LW
7.7 mm RAF or 7.62 USAAF
12.7 mm VVS
12.7 mm USAAF
13 mm LW (casing is bit too small for that)
15 mm LW MG 151/15
20 mm LW MG FF (Oerlikon)
20 mm LW MG 151/20 (or Hispano Suiza)
23 mm VVS
30 mm LW Mk 108
30 mm LW Mk 103
37 mm USAAF
So, how many did I get right?

Obfr. jochen 'Stern von Afrika' 2./ Jagdgeschwader 27 'Afrika'
-
ooops..my mistake
hmm I didn t know the MK 103 and 108 actually had different ammo. I thought they were just different cannons firing the same 30mm shells. I learn something new every day (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Gonna have illuminated instruments, for those pre-dawn mission starts? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
popeye

yes, the instruments are illuminated, so you will always have a clear read out on the gauges.

hmm...illuminated instruments in the game = "real dark" night setting of arena possible (unklike in some other games (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) )
This would mean we could at long last conduct more realistic night fighting/buff raids.
Which would mean we can hope for radar equipped nightfighters such as Bf 110 G4 and He 219 Uhu and operational inflight radar for these birds, right?
Sascha

Actually, just flying an entire buff sortie with only IFR guidance would be enough for me:
Accurate navigation + carpet bombing = fun.

hahahah... flying at night. Sheesh. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Like I don't have enough trouble seeing the guy who gets me NOW! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Man, that'd be a blast. Nice, all black PBY cruisin in at 100' off the water... (oops...sorry bout the unintentional "I WANT THIS PLANE" pitch)
Lookin forward to it. Sounds like we're going to have more than enough to keep us busy in the cockpit!
Thanks for the update, Pyro!
