I suddenly have a major AH problem.
On the initial load with the splash screen I get a white backgound and a green bar in the top left of the screen. I can see the wire rings at the top of the clipboard, but nothing else.
I am unable to fly.
Help!

Hi Curval,
Try Deleteing your "video7.cfg" file. or drag it to the desktop or something to get it out of the Aces High/settings folder. (Delete it once all is well). AH will recreate it when you start if you delete it).
Then re start AH. You should then go to the video selection screen. Start with the defaults and if that works start switching stuff back on (From the "video" button each time you start AH).
Sorry if I am telling you things you have already tried.

Thanks snafu,
I actually went back and thought about any changes I had made, and realised that I had turned down my hardware acceleration in Windows (98) in order to try to solve my CTD issues. I am not a computer whiz, so I was "playing", to see if it woiuld help. Then this problem arose.
When I switched it back to the setting I originally had it on, it came back. On my machine the setting needs to be very specific for some reason...if I have full acceleration I get this weird screen, if I have it on the lowest setting...same thing. I seem to need to keep it one "notch" below full...then it works.
...and btw...I reinstalled AH completely about 4 times before I switched the setting back to where I had it, thinking a fresh install would solve the problem too.
Any ideas?

got same problem on new install on new system.... need help

whenever you change parameters in AH for video always return to the video setup button so that the video system is re-detected, before logging in.
its a good idea to re-install directX 8.1b and/or DirectX9 again. For ealier Nvidia cards (Geforce/ 1,2,3 use the the 30.82 drivers not the latest 4 series, and stick with DirectX 8.1b, fps will be slightly faster than with dirX9. Always run the dirext diagnostics (type dxdiag at the run command) to see all is well with video and while there also turn down sound acceleration in the sound section one notch left. For the latest ati raedon 9700/9800 cards use the new catalyst drivers and use DirectX9 because they are optimised for it.
If you still have problems make sure AGP Gart drivers are properly installed depending on MB chipset (usually come with a MB system CD) , and the video aperture in bios is large enough for the video cards onboard ram. Turn off bios caching and any shadowing settings for video in bios, you do not need to shadow video on modern cards. Make sure sound is not sharing the same interupt as video or a Network card if fitted.
