I am having my lay in bed liner removed on Friday in preperation to have a spray in bedliner put in my truck.
What brand of spray in liner would you recommend? Any that you've had problems with? Any websites that you know of with good info on this stuff?

What are the advantages of a spray in over an insert?

They weather seal the bed.
The inserts allow dirt and water to get under them, and they wear the paint off the bed. My truck is only two yyears old, but the bed liner has made good progress in wearing the paint off. It is also filthy and damp under the liner. It seems like a great way to rust out the bed right now.

Spray in ones look and work way better.
I saw a rhino hide (I think) one that looked just excellent. Havent got one yet myself though.

Karnak, I have a Line-X spray-in bed liner in my 2002 dakota.
I will never buy a drop in liner againn.. I'm very pleased. Had some battery acid get on it from my boat battery and it was unaffected. The cool thing is: lifetime warranty. I scraped a couple spots off on the corner of my tailgate when dragging some heavy stuff out of the bed. I took it in to Line-x and they fixed it right away, no charge. Also, my particular line-x dealer actually loaned me a truck for the afternoon I had it originally installed. 2 thumbs up!

Rhino liners are get. I got one for my '99 Ranger. You can get it to match the color of your truck too. If you use your truck bed to haul a lot of stuff get it a 1/4" think instead of 1/8" that I got.

Rhino-Liner Spray in.
I had this in my Ram Pickup. They kick ass.
Spend the extra and have them go over the rails if it's not in your vendor's base package.
If you want to go nuts, they can spray it in custom colors.
They have a brochure and show it sprayed on almost anything from wheel wells to nerf-bars.
There are other brands out there, but some are not as good...
1. Make sure the process includes sanding off old paint and a chemical cleaning before application.
2. High temperature spraying.
3. Lifetime warranty against peeling. (It's not warrantied against rips or tears, but those are easily fixed by a fast overspray application.
4. At least 1/8 spray thickness on the bed surface. I've seen some where they just barely coat it making it more like textured paint than a protective layer. (You can get extra-thick coating with Rhino-liner too)
5. If your truck bed has drainage holes, don't let the vendor BS you by saying they can't avoid filling them in. Unless you want to collect water in your bed, make sure they clear those holes before the coating hardens.
6. If you have rubber plugs over lashing points in the bed, pull them out before they do the application. Once the spray is coating them, you won't need the rubber plugs anymore.
The nice thing about the spray in is stuff won't slide all over the bed anymore, which is great for transporting, but can be a pain when trying to load stuff in (i.e. it's tough to slide something from the tailgate up to the cab.)
The cost is about 2 or 2.5 times more than a drop in, but it's worth it.

Rhino liner and Line-X are two of the most popular. Rhino is generally a little more expensive, by about $75-$100. Both are available in "colors" to accent your truck. Some owners report no fading at all, some owners report significant fading. Depends a lot on color choice. Some colors are more photochemically reactive.
Things to consider- are you going under rail or over rail? If over rail, proper masking to leave a clean line is important. Surface prep is also important. If they do not "scuff" the bed then proper adhesion may not occur. What about hardware? Will they mask or (better yet) remove any hardware before application?
Might cost you upwards of $450-$500, depending on bed size, color, and application (over rail, under rail). It would be really nice to see examples of the shops work beforehand, yes?
Sometimes a "lifetime warrenty" covers peeling, but may not cover chipping. You might ask.
There are even self-applied roll-on products available for around $100.
Best spray-on liner? Personal preference. I have a Line-X and am very pleased with it.

i've heard the Rhino liner is a bit more brittle and could chip easier.
I've seen both, the Line-X seems to have a slight "rubberized" feel to it....the Rhino seems more plastic and brittle to the touch.
my opinions.....myself, i'd prolly go with the Line-X , even the pro's at the truck shop recommend Line-X too.

My advice would be to have your truck done with it instead of your bed....that non skid surface is a bit rough on the knees...ask my wife ;)

Had a Rhino on my last truck and have a Line-X in the new one.
I like the texture on the Line-X better. Less sliding around, better feeling when I'm crawling around on my knees back there.
However, I think they're pretty close. Go for the cheap one.. if there's no real big diff, I'd do the Line-X.

I had a Line-X liner put in on Friday. It cost a lot on my current salary, but it should keep the truck in better condition.
