If memory serves, fishu had 347 kills, no deaths in one of the beta tours.

Actually Steve I was wondering if you wanted those little white pills I was using to "calm" my nerves..

I don't have the need for them anymore :D

BTW someone here had a couple of hundred a few months back. Was it Fester ??

Pegasus over at WB had a streak of 237 a couple years back..

He flew one tour in 190's and *poof*

Thought it was Wulfie, but he says no.

Always wondered who he "really" was.

I'll send those pills Red label..

Lol nopoop.  I could use 'em.  I've had some harrowing experiences in the game last couple of flights.  I've come back smoking w/ pieces missing 2 out of last 3 flights.  I must admit though, the tension is both exciting/nerve wracking.  I am gonna send a case of beer to the first guy that shoots me down... their choice on the brew.  :)

One thing I enjoyed at WB is that your score page would keep track of your longest streak for the tour. Hell, I will always be a duffer, but once it got up to 12 or 13 it became time to work it. They gave you a wittle medal at 10 and 20.

I bumped 20 a few times and I was ready for the rubber room. Couple of kills, on final with 18 in the bag and someone appears when I'm about to touch down at a rear base...

Finally did it, got that wittle medal :D

Have to have a certain mindset to do the streak thing. Don't have it here, I tighten up, don't fly my game and die. That, and when flying for one, I can't fly the way I enjoy. Taking too big a bite is fun. Flying conservative with my gunnery is akin to having a discussion with a cardboard box.

Pills are in the mail, give it a run.

Just make sure it's cheap beer, the beer in red and white cans..

Cold.

Not really. Dunno bout Fishu's streak but I have seen is similar streaks where the pile-its have bugged from co-alt 1 on 1's with better planes. They just fly a fast plane high, cherry pick the AFKers.

Lol I knew there'd be people coming around saying it was no biggie.  What took you so long Vulcan? :)

I haven't seen anyone with a big ol' long streak(not that there haven't been out there) and although my streak is only 101.. it has actually been pretty hard for me.. and quite frankly I have been more lucky than anything else.  I haven't run from any coalt fights... even fought you once, your hurt 262, in the airport ack, then the city ack, then a carrier ack(til I decided enough pieces had fallen off me and you would continue to pull me through assorted acks 'til I died.).. that was fun though huh?

I did cherry pick an AFK'er last night though... but who wouldn't have?  I had been afk... came back and there was a slow tiffie  over me and close aboard.. he had been climbing so he was REAL slow.. I had been level so it was nuttin to zoom up and get him.

I was as high as 19k last night.. got run down by a guy named icebird(pony)... fought him to CoE(he started at 24k according to film).. chased him a sector before I gave up on him.  Of course, he turned around and tried to cherry me as I tried to engage in another fight.

Vulcan, I politely disagree, it has been anything but easy for me but like I said...I've had some good fortune too.  As an example: got in a deck dogfight with another pony, he flew to airport and I caught 5or 6 ack hits and only lost a flap, before I got him.

Now if you did that in a DHog, I'll really be impressed.

Well. the pony is slower than at least 3 planes(deck) and I've flown no perk rides.. so it's not like it's been a walk in the park. But like I said... I've had some real good luck.. other than a 262 maybe I'd think any plane would require some measure of good fortune.  I'm good at colliding with people so I'm sure it's a matter of time(brief) before the luck runs out.   :)

Streaks suck:D My high in WBs was 25 and I was a nervous wreck. After kill 25 I spotted a low JU52 dove in, lit him up and ran right into the back of him. I was so disgusted with myself I didnt play for a couple of days. But I was happy to have that little medal;)

A couple of tours ago I had streak going but I didnt even realize it. Of course as soon as I checked my score and saw that I was on my best ever streak in any game I died. I completly fell apart after that, I finished the tour with barely a 2:1 kill ratio.

Congrats on your streak Steve, despite what some say its quite an accomplishment.

Happened to me last tour I had spread 36 kills or so in the Hellcat around the first couple days of the tour then one day without realizing the streak I was on I jumped back into a furball sans 1 aileron and 1 elevator that ack had kindaly removed for me.  Got shot down by a 205 I think it was... later in the day I checked my score and saw 36:1 I was soo pissed that I'd given a freebie away when I had a streak going. :)  Ended the tour 61:1 in the hellcat and I doubt I'll ever come close to it again. :D

No one proved he used volcano bug or alt-f4s.

More than 50 kills streaks are hard to get even with very conservative flying, and best planes. It is always luck factor, like 88s, warps, lag, udp etc. 1 .50 can kill you at 1.3k, not very often, but it happens.

Fishu's "streak" was little more than discovering the bug and exploiting it.

On the old beta map there was a big bellybutton volcano right in the middle. Supposedly you could bail out inside it and collect kills. I was too busy dying to notice anything like that :)

On the maps we have lately and with all the new guys.... it's hard to find someone who hasn't dozed off.   Anyone who can fly a pee 51 or dee 9 without dozing off seems really strange to me.

I don't have a volcano to exploit but I'm sure the free period has contributed to my tally.  In fact, my 100th kill was a guy in a p40 with the name: theNewb.         lol

Hi Steve,
Let's understand that that is a new guy :)

But mostly I am replying cuz I was reading this and wondering how many peeps were thinking....Time to Hunt Steve ?  :)

Nothing to disagree with Steve. Hell, there are those out there that do put up a fight. All I'm saying is IF you want a big streak and are patient and pick and choose your fights its quite easy. Wasn't a jab at you :)

In fact the one person that springs to mind is Festibria. When he was flying as Glue I encountered him, 1 on 1 coalt, me in Tiffie, him in Tempest, he put his nose down and ran to the nearest field. Of course I politely pointed out his cowardice on Ch#1 to which he challenged me do a duel, and proceeded to whip my ass. I'm still stumped why he turned and ran from a fight he most likely would've won. However, I have seen other similar actions from 'aces', where they simply will not engage in an even fight.

BGB.. I probably just should have kept my mouth shut... my lil run of luck might have gone unnoticed.  But you're right, the added edge of the seat feeling is exciting.  I have a case of MGD and one of Heinekin(SP?) in the fridge for this weekends' poker party.  With any luck, the victor will select one of those.. I can always send out oneof my friends for more on Saturday.

I'm gonna do some strechting excercises for my neck.. so I can look behind me for menacing tempests easier.   hehehehe

now that i am cable modem's i expect to break 3 in a row.
I do remember in AW seeing a pilots score of 410 kills and
1 death.  That blew me away, no matter how you fly, that is
remarkable.
And a guy named tomb, I dont think he ever got killed, but
he didnt amass too many kills during a single camp.

Fishu's record has been surrounded by folks saying "volcano."  Dunno .  I do knoiw his kills were attributed to a 190A8. ;)

More recently (maybe 2 years ago), Ypsilon got in excess of 100 kills with 0 deaths by flying a Yak9U.  Maybe Ypsilson finished the tour with 0 deaths.  Anyone remember?

That's an amazing demonstration of concentration and dedication.  Doesn't sound  like fun at all. :)

Well Wldthing... I'm not doing it how you say it's done and I'm filming every darned flight to prove it.  Are you saying that you've run off streaks of excess of 100 from the start of a tour more than once?  I would be truly impressed because I think luck has more of a factor in it than anything else... you must be very lucky indeed.

Well in my case it has been more of a matter of being lucky than smart I think... ack not killing me... surviving hits on HO(twice.. always try to avoid but 2 hit me)  no boots or collisions.... no freak 88 hits.. that kind of stuff.  Having run a string to 100, I'm only saying to you that it seems far from easy...I mean I can see how it would be made much easier in a tempest or a 262.. but I've not had an easy time of it in the 51.  Of course, there are no doubt much better pilots out there than me.. maybe it would be easy for one of them... and maybe your one of them  :)

Curly, it's nerve wracking.. until I hit 100 I wasn't worried about gettin blasted..now that I'm actually trying to not die, it's a bit stressful.. I know it's just a game and this may be lame to some people... sorry.

I was at a5 tonight and I swear every fw190, tempest, and pony that was there dove on me and tried to whack me...mommy!!

Yak9u?  Must have taken him a while... short clip and all.

Im not one of them...And u dont have to be a good pilot to do it.  P-51 is probebly one of the easiest to do it with tough,  you can almost outrun every plane except an La7.  All im saying is that it takes a brain to do it, and patience.  Luck may play a small roll in it,  but not as much as the other two.

I was in fishu's squad (Jg52) during the streak.  Last I saw he was in WW2OL.

A few things about his record:

First, those numbers are genuine. Some WB pilot has similar numbers (I think it was toshi or something. The fact it wasn't daddy really irked some 4thmen, which I found particularly satisfying). It was in beta, and I think it may have even been with the 109G10.  And fishu would be the first to say it wasn't dogfighting skill more than discipline.  And I would add -- and a plane capable of climbing out of trouble.
Oh yeah, and he did it flying a keyboard.  He did not have a joystick.
Now that is a legend.

Congrats steve on a 100-kill streak.  The most I've ever had the discipline to do was 15 in a DVII in DOA.

Actually 100+ in YakU is a very good result. It is a vulnerable AC, also not fast enough to keep you out of troubles. Making in in La7 would be much easier.

my best streaks at the start of a tour before bailing or dying were:

P-51d:152 kills
109g10 105 kills
p-38: 80 kills

my best one airframe hotpad rearm streaks were:
tempest:101 kills
p-38: 41 kills
p-38: 40 kills

Remember how CH 6 would announce the kills to the whole arena?

Joe Blow killed by Tom Jones or whatever?

I just remember a few times during the famous beta streak that kills by Fishu ran off in the buffer like a slot machine spilling quarters after hitting a jackpot.

Now, back in them days, you tell me how you'd get 15 kills in 2 or 3 minutes.. and then five more real fast a few minutes later. This while a mass of guys was attacking a field back when ack was lazer deadly.

But feel free to believe whatever you want to believe.

One airframe best is 35 in a tiffie :) . But Kappa was nearby for much of it, so that helped (and flying as a knight that is).

Ahhh.. the good ole days.  Wait a sec, CH6 announcing kills really wasn't that long ago!  Or was it?  lol.. I feel old... the bones are aching.

When *did* we switch to 'blah landed X kills in blah of blah"?

I agree with WildThing.... if you grab a P-51D and Fly high and pick your fights it shouldn't be too hard to do. Stay inconspicuous and Cherry pick!.... BORING!    :)

I suggest that it might have more significance if the following provisions were made.

#1 A pilot posts on BBS prior to the [START] of the TOD (before they have logged a kill) and state there intention to try for such a record.

#2 For any reason a Ditch, Bail, or a Disco  would count as a DEATH.

If a pilot could achieve 100+ kills in a TOD and survive an active "DWEEB HUNT" it might more of an accomplishment.

Just a Thought :D

Steve Im all for you being all you can be.. you got a nice steak going keep it up...

But i also note you haven't engaged one freaking bomber....

The other day when you about 8k over the enemy and i voxed to ya. and you went up instead of fighting I was wondering what you were doing..  after reviewing your stats its pretty obvious.

Run your streak all you want and hey keep it going...  But youll get alot more respect by engaging the enemy..  Im not saying suicide the enemy Bish lemming style....  Just engage the enemy... and that includes bombers.

this streak of yours its all about respect is what im reading especially in that RPS mega paragraph...

So earn it....

the Fishu technique is frowned upon..  but even fishu has one up on ya he flew the 190a8....

Start doing some p40b missions with me then you will see some real skill...

your KOT goes to crap alting to a meager 4k and then your plane disadvantage to boot...  dont forget that the value is higher or equal to better planes...  but thats just icing ...

the sharkmouth does dive well and saddles pretty good...

my streak is 2 - 0 and climbing...  care to join...

:p

Not a bash steve just take the pain...

Cruisin for streaks requires a fast plane and alot of patience....flyin in crowds of your fellow countrymen doesn't hurt either.

Btw Steve...not knockin what your doin...if you're havin fun then that's what it's all about....you should try to streak in a P-40....would mean a little more than in the pony.:)

Doctoryo, my approach to buffs is the same whether I'm on a streak or not.  Fact is, I die almost every time when engaging buffs(formations at least) when flying a 51 so I avoid it.  I do this whether I'm on a streak of 100+ or just died 6 times straight.  Unless I'm in a plane w/ cannon, I really don't have much success w/ formations.  I engaged a formations of 88's the other day because they were almost at the base, and low enough to score good hits..I got two of them then wrestled my smoking, damaged wing pony to earth.  I also killed an a20 when those chasing it asked for help and I was the only one who could intercept it beofre drop.  I was rtb and hosed it down w/ my 2 remaining guns but managed to get it.  Geez wordy sorry... bottom line: I try not to engage  formations in my pony, it's basically senseless suicide for me

Doctoryo as for fishu:  There is compelling remarks here to indicate his streak was enirely gamey...thus not really a streak at all. Of course, Fester and Wldthing have already indicated that they have had streaks in the 100's... so it's a long shot from unique.

Rude:  At this point it's not a lot of fun but it is challenging so.....

I guess I could retreat to 30k and cherry pick sleepers  *yawn*

Here are how my 2 flights last night went just so you guys know that I'm not doing anything like what you suggest... but at the same time am just having good fortune.

Went to A5 from 219 at 13k.  Bish and rook had full darbars in the sector and each had full dar bar in adjoining sector.  As I got closer to A5 2 high F4U's harrassed several lower bish. I ducked and proceeded toward A5.  At 10k, closer to base, an F4U4 angled in front of  me trying to escape guys he had engaged and failed to kill, I was cruising pretty good so went after him.  As we got close to base, I asked if ack was  up, could get no response.  Killed the F4U4(SkatSr), near the deck, right as ack started shootin at me(it was up, heheh).. wriggled thru ack without a hit.. out the other side. REst of fight was low near deck, dodged tempests, a couple ponies, and almost lost it to a good bounce from a FW(Goth) but a roundy on the deck and he  was bled off and gave up. Got 4 more on the deck and went home.

Second flight:  Went from 193 to 190, up to 19k to get thru mountains. No good guys there except my squaddie Davidd(Coors), not quite a full darbar there as we approach.  Encounter 24k pony but he errs and Davidd gets him as the pony over commits to me. Guys grabbing from the base engage us(one p51B, spits and p38's) and a long fight ensues from about 10k to deck(to be fair here, from this point on we had an alt advantage or were coalt at worst).  The guys we are fighting are all pretty new and make poor use of their numbers(us 2 against as many as 6 at once). I get 6.  Davidd gets 7 in his spit! I take an HO but lose a gun is all. RTB

My point is:   I'm getting some good breaks, doing nothing special.  If the high pony is a veteran and he really wants me dead.. I'm in trouble.. as the fight got lower while I was defensive, the lower bad guys would have been able to get in. Of course, having Coors as a wingman helped, we might have been able to work the high pony before the alt got low enough for low guys to engage...never know
I'd rather be good than lucky, but for now, I'll settle for the latter. :)

Jealousy is an easy thing to spot.. of course you can go on in any sort of insult/denial you want.. you've already spewed a couple. Since people like you never have anything but selfish or bad intent, you foolishly assume the same for all others.  In this case you are mistaken. Although I was pleased and felt very fortunate about my streak,  I don't need affirmation or attention. I DO enjoy the banter of the boards, in spite of the minor nuicanses negative folk like you and Math provide. I never once attributed any of this to skill and the only reason I asked on the boards is because  no-one I asked privately in the game had an idea. I tried to quietly garner the info but had no success.  Since I wanted to know, I posted the inquiry on the board. So please, go about trying to tear others down in an effort to build yourself up.  Unhealthy at that is, you seem like the kind of person that has no other option.
Someday you may actually achieve something, even if it was by accident like my streak, and you will understand that accomplishing something is much more satisfying than insulting the actions of others.

I chased..I began to close up at 1-6...then 1,3...

I wasnt gettn any closer..so i started to spray soem MG;s his way..maybe scare him into turning..no go..

He kept at 1.3 away...I couldnt catch him!!??  I thought i was faster on dek...guess my 1/2 tank gas and wingpods were too heavy?? I dont know..

Steve, I was in a 163 about 24k over our HQ one time when I spotted a high con with 2-3 cons below it. Coming into range I saw it was a mustang. It swooped in on the cons below and back up. When it saw me it tried to dive away and run. Well, the runstang wasn't getting away, I chased, got him to turn(he had no choice), and got an assist as the 3 cons he was BnZing got their revenge. It was Steve. Upon your being downed you said "Dweeb 163" to which I replied "Dweeb runstang".

This is why I scoff at the mustang run. Just like you consider the 163 a dweeb ride, I feel the same about the runstang(cept the runstang can fly for hours).

Wanna hear about a good run? One time 999000 took off in b17's to hit an airfield capped by dozens of enemy. He went in at treetop level, took out the VH(and a couple of GV's) and made it home(many in chase) and landed 8 kills.

Jealousy? Of cherry picking? nah. I'm jealous of the ladder and KOTH people. One of these days I might even have the balls to try it:D

BTW, if your gonna toot your own horn on this BB, prepare to get flamed!  (figuratively)

Title: Does anyone know what the "record" for..

Well Raub...it was an in-game achievement...was it not?  I may not have spelled that out in concrete so let me clear it up for you, since  you too seem to want to join the people who wish to insult me merely for making an inquiry, then chatting w/ some folk about it.  It was merely an in-game achievement.. Few do it so it must be... I suppose we will see all of those insecure folk and people that just plain like to put people down say stuff like:  It would be easy to do, just do this or that blah blah blah.  Frankly, I say BS.  Until a person has done it, they have no right to criticize someone who has. So for all of you that think it is so easy... it's time to run off a hundred or so.. and if all you can do to reply is:  it would be boring.. or whatever other cop out you would spew... I say you either lack the discipline, skill, and good fortune to succeed and that you should probably shut the hell up.

Sixpence.. I  just don't get it... I made an inquiry on the board... then spoke to some people about a run of good luck I had... truly the thing I enjoyed was the nice people that wished me luck.  It's funny to see the small minded people call me names and assume the worst... but it tells me what kind of sad little people they are.
I actually was not surprised to get bashed, the world is full of people that criticize the efforts of others, having never done the same deed themselves.  Certainly guys like Fester and Wldthing can put in their critique, they've been there... but these other folk who put me down then make excuses for  themselves never having done what I did(in spite, as I've said.. luck had a nice hand) are pathetic indeed.  I cannot think of anything other than closet jealousy, or again, small mean mindedness, that would make someone behave in such an unnecessarily mean spirited manner.  Another thing... other people have said it could be done by cherry picking.  Those that say I did it that same way, after I said I wasn't, are fools for continuing to assume such.  I mixed it up as much as anyone save perhaps the guy who ups a vulched base..I'll repeat.. I got lucky a lot, I did not have the streak as a result of cherry picking.

BTW for killin me w/ the 163... I hate those lil buggers.  :)

Great streak, I'm impressed.
Steve, no need to justify any kind of a goal that you try for.  Some folks will never get it.  They'll insist that you're not having fun, or that it's not all that hard, or takes no skill or whatever.  The truth is, whatever it takes, not many folks can pull a streak like yours off.  Talk is cheap, but you did it.   WTG.

Steve, the reply is not so much at you as to mustangs in general.
A hundred kills in a row is a great streak in any plane, and all the power in the world to ya. But most of my experiences with mustangs have been 25k+ and if you are co-alt they go the other direction. Not to say you do that, cause you got over a hundred kills, but that's my perception of the mustang pilot.

Now I stopped to really think about it, and I asked myself, why don't I think that way of the Fw190-d9? And to be honest, I could never remember seeing a d9 25k+. I've seen them over 20k alot, but not much higher than that. And for some reason the d9 pilot seems very aggressive, alot more so than the mustang pilot. Not to say the d9 won't dive away, cause they do. But most extend and come right back. And i've seen mustang pilots do this too, but the D9 pilot is alot more aggressive in this manner.

What I figure is that it must be fuel. So I took up a mustang with 2 drop tanks. I got to 25k and still had a hundred gallons in my drop tanks, amazing! The d9 has a drop tank, but doesn't come close to the fly time of the mustang. So I see now the D9 pilot must be aggressive or go to the hotpad empty handed. I'm surprised that the bombers that make runs on the HQ don't get a few ponies to go with them.

But enough rambling, to your streak.

P.S. And no, I could never , ever, have a streak like that.

P.S.S. Is there a pool going on what kind of plane ends the streak? I say it's a CHog!

LOL nice rant! Ok when I was here less than 6 months I had a 70 kill streak.  Is my bash ok now? I didnt come to the boards and say whats the record for this? I'm a newbie with a 70 kill streak going!
(altho I guess i just did ) :D

I *KNOW* you have to cherry pick and not get down and dirty to help your team. And not to jump gunned 17s
It was not a fun month.
I kinda gave up on score after that, t was too boring....

It made me into a cherrypicking weenie
Sorta made me loathe myself yano?

But hey, a 140 odd kill streak is quite a feat and takes patience and smarts. Good job.

You are supposed to let others toot your horn tho...
