You tend to start projects for fun that you normally wouldn't when you are bored.

For that style of do -- looks to be a variation on the hotoke do -- you should have kosode, not o-sode; kosode are curved to wrap over the shoulder better. Also, yoshitsune-gote had completely fallen out of favor by the time the hotoke-do appeared. And the bare metal is inaccurate, too; since real lacquer is such a royal pain to do (the particles and fumes are toxic), powder-coating is probably the most durable finish.
But if you're not going for period authenticity, it's certainly an extensive piece of work...
-
O-sodes are just fine with that style of Do.
Bare metal is not accurate, but I'm the customer, not you. I wanted it bare, and the customer is always right.
A lot of guys get testy with armour and are book smart about what you can and cannot do with bits and pieces of it. Just like arguing about old fighter planes and bombers. The problem is that people are still people. There isn't anything wrong with modifying a design or a tactic or whatever else you want to argue about from history. Using the phrase, "But in the history books they ONLY did it this way," holds no water for me. The truth is you don't really know, neither do I, and if it works, then use it.
So, O-sodes with Yokinashita-Do armour is fine, stainless steel is fine, not painting it is fine, flying low with a bomber is fine, and dogfighting with a B-26 is fine. Don't be a slave to history. That is my advice for today.

I prefered the original SoF, the weapons were more varied....
