Dismiss them from the attack to defeat Hussein. Although Blair is a goner anyway, I believe this is an Amercian fight, win or lose. If we cant do it alone then we should not do it at all.
If Hussein is left in power, the US needs to vacate the region, develope an alternate source of energy for self reliance and allow the proliferation of WMDs between the arabs and the jews to take its natural course.
Also, leave Asia to the asians. Let WMDs proliferate there and follow a natural course unhindered by the US.
Lastly, make a pledge to the world that any attack on the US would result in absolute destruction to any country associated with the attack. And gaurantee that associations are already known.
Withdraw and Isolate.
Strengthen physical barriers between Canadian and Mexican borders.
End Immigration.
Deport illegals.
Develope absolute self reliance.
No smiley for you!

keep all the babes under 150 lbs. though...

Yeager - Im beginning to agree with your isolationism belief... but dont forget we have plenty of flag burning hippies IN the country willing to riot because its trendy. We would have to deport them to the sand-lands.
That and I dont want to deal with the fallout from the Mid East and Asia in 3-4 years - god knows the whacko's would think for a total of about 5 minutes before using a nuclear weapon in Allah's name (those 5 minutes are actually spent lifting the weapons from the assembly line to the launch pad, and then targeting the "infidel of the week.")
Other than that - diddly em - fence the area off and in 6 months it will all be Jewish.
-
I've a better proposition : deport all the babe OVER 150 lbs ;)
-
I would LOVE an isolationist era.
I'm AMAZED at how much money we still send to countries, even the ones we aren't exactly friendly with.
Cut the cash, close the borders, take out the trash.

Amen.

Isolationism doesnt work. Especially not for a country depending on cheap oil. Sorry, you are stuck with the rest of us.

Well - we can deal with you Swede's if you promise to change your name to Swedsylvania and allow us to put another star on the flag.
I say let them in - they dont cause any problems and their women are beautiful.

We have to. Its part of our oil/diamonds/white slavery trade that we have going on. I posted the whole scheme in one of the other threads on this forum. Here it is again:
Nixon started it with his oil embargos to drive up the price of domestic oil. Ford was an idiot and sat on his hands too long and OPEC pulled back on their production so that their prices would match the rates the US suppliers were charging - hey the sheiks were getting screwed out of revenue per barrel and wanted their piece of the action! To keep the sheiks at bay, Carter went to Egypt back in the '70s to broker a deal for Russian white slave prostitutes being ferried inside empty missile tubes (the whole "peace with Israel" thing was just a cover to set up a diamond cartel). Kissinger went along with it because he was part of the secret diamond cartels in West Germany selling stones shipped through Tel Aviv and his NY connections completed the precious gemstone triad between Moscow and South Africa, so he knew he could get diamonds across borders if he kept mum on the prostitute thing. Those diamonds were being mined by al Queda cells who used the funds to purchase US Sidewinders - the same missiles bringing down Soviet MiL helicopters in Afghanistan in the '80s! Reagan was in on it, which is why the Iranian Muslim fundamentalists held the US hostages in '79 until after the US presidential election was over - Carter could get off scot-free since he was no longer in office but was still entitled to immunity from prosecution overseas! Khomeini was all about the oil but he bartered in diamonds to keep the market up. He knew he could only keep power so long as he had the diamond merchants backing him up. Bush learned all about this during Reagan's turn in the White House and used those connections to expand the white slave prostitution ring and diamond brokering operation into Kuwait and Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm so that he could get friendly oil rates in exchange for white slaves. Clinton risked blowing the whole thing apart. Clinton "got high on his own supply" which is where Lewinsky fit into the picture. When that white prostitution scandal hit the papers, Clinton had to back off on the oil and diamond operations. You ever wonder why Clinton remained in office? Because he had the oil and diamond guys backing him up! They knew where Clinton stood and they wanted to keep him in office rather than risk some loose cannon blowing the lid off the whole thing. So along comes Bush Part Two and he's back after Iraq. Coincidence? I think not! He's pushing his dad's agenda - OIL!

I think Swedifonia has a better ring to it. Swedsylvania sounds like something out of a bad Dracula movie.

Pre-WWI we were an isolationist country, until the Lusitannia(sp.?) got torp'd. Then after that war we returned to an isolationist point of view. The League of Nations appeased Japan and Germany. So Japan ran rough-shod over Manchuria, and Hitler began his world conquest bid by overrunning Chec. and Poland. After WWII though we realized we couldn't turn a blind eye to world events, so we got involved. Maintained our military might which we had built up during the last war, and when N. K. invaded S.K. we, and the UN, were able to repulse them. Then came Vietnam, because the politicians faught that one instead of leaving it primarily to the generals, we got our heads handed to us.
My point here is that there are always gonna be some small-minded salamanders who want to rule the world. Isolationist views won't keep us out of the conflict, and in fact it allows the conflicts to escalate to world-class proportions. Stay involved, maintain our military strength, and go into any conflict with clear goals in mind and go in to win, no matter what. And let everyone know that, and if they don't like it, they can at least stay out of the way.

We have more than enough cheap oil in our country to last for decades, without importing another drop. If we wanted the oil, we could have taken it the first time, and any time after that.

What is the state of our domestic crude reserves again compared to EIA consumption forecasts for the next decade, Lazerus? US Geologic survey figures are fine, generally acceptable.

You don't read any history books all that much do you? Did you know that the Japanese actually thought their attack on Pearl Harbor would cause the U.S. to seek a peaceful resolution because of our isolationist attitudes at the time?
So no thanks, I don't want us to stick our heads in the sand again.

yea isolationism worked for china all those years real well. and it worked great for the USSR. You know nazi germany didnt import anything as well. and they sure didnt have a standard of living problem. wait yes they did.

"The following year, De Gaulle withdrew France from the NATO military command and asked President Lyndon Johnson to remove U.S. troops from France. A seething Secretary of State Dean Rusk flew to Paris to seek clarification: "Does your order include the bodies of American soldiers in France's cemeteries?"

Oh, yeah......
:)

You know it was not that simple.

When you are a soverign country do you give full control of your army to another country ?
If so why isn't the US army controlled by Canada for exemple ?
-
So you are saying france left NATO beacuse it wanted to maintain military independence and decision making authority and they couldn't do that within the NATO framework becuse other countires might not share the same defense priorities as france?
-
yes it's exactly that.

Glad to have your support for the USA's stance vis a vis the UN, France, Germany Russia etc. on the current Iraq crisis.

Again it's your interpretation which go right over my head.
I said they were some motive of an event of the 60's.
Then you ask if a probable reason is the real reason ,I answer that you are right.
How can you extrapolate about 2003's events from this ?
-
Well how silly of me of course this doesnt apply the USA, we must listen to France...
I'm saying the USA is willing to act alone to preserve its military independeance and decsion makin authorites because we might not be able to keep those within the auspices of the UN as other countries might not share our particular valid defense priorites when it comes to the treat posed by saddam hussein..
What part of this do you disagree with. This is the exact justification you agrred to for what France did when they left NATO....
-
Were did you get I disagree with ?
-
Deport illegals.
Deportation, deportation... wait a minute, I heard that one somewhere before...

Releasing the UK would be the worst thing that could happen to Blair and the US/UK alliance (from UK Blair POV). toejam would surely hit the fan at home as they try to explain/fix the military build up.

yeah.. deport all the illigals... prices will go though the roof for most basic goods and services cause most citizens won't take a job at 7$/hour and way too many businesses survive thanks to those illigals...
Not to mention total lack of cheap "almost slaves" for agroculture...

Doubtful...unemployment is very high right now..most folks would be thankful with any income.
I suggest we just deport immigrants from Eastern block nations as they tend to spread a virus called "Socialism". :D

France saw the opportunity to confront the US and in doing so, raise it's international stature....a political powerplay which will, in the end, cost them deeply.
The worst relationship you can have is one with someone who claims to be your friend, but looks only to serve themselves....the French government will reap what it sows. Those currently in power are not only cowards, void of a spine, but also are lacking the character which is necessary to achieve the status they so dearly want.
To disagree with the US is fine....to openly and actively stand in our way and thru that effort cause us harm is, well, deserving of a response. That day of reckoning is coming.
-
I have to disagree with that. For years the mantra that low wage or entry level jobs will not be filled unless immigrant/alien labor is available. Go to areas of the country where the migration patterns bypass and you see those supposedly unfillable jobs being done and filled by the people of that area. Imagine beds being made in hotels by blue eyed blond women. Farm hands that can read and write english.... the horror ;)
No question that prices might go up a bit, wages too I would bet. And how would that be a bad thing?

I like both Straffo and Grun, but I'm gonna have to side with Straffo this time...let me do the honors Straffo...

(Be careful... Miko has this thing about paying the common man very much.) ;)

I think it was a chant the Nazis sang as they herded the Jews into cattle cars, which was very similiar to the chants the Bosnian Serbs were singing as they marched into Sebrenica.
