Aces High Version 1.11 Patch 3
------------------------------
The drop-down map list on the clip board now displays on top
of all other items on the clipboard.
Vehicle object collisions changed to stop the vehicle instead
of destroying it. Vehicles can still get destroyed in certain
situations such as rolling the vehicle.
Exiting on an enemy runway no longer counts as a successful landing.
Fixed a drag problem with Ar 234 drones that kept them from slowing
enough to maintain formation when the lead plane slowed down.
Fixed a gunnery bug that could cause lost hits when shooting in a object
dense environment such as a city.
Fixed disappearing gear doors on certain airplanes.
The rear gun of the Ju-87 now interrupts correctly when the field of fire is obscured by the fuselage or tail.
Hurricane fuel tanks now display correctly in the damage list and the fuel leaks from the correct areas.
Fixed a bug in the Ju 88 that caused icons to disappear in the gunsight.
Icons in the map room were changed to increase frame-rate.
When gunning in your formation on a secondary plane, the master plane now shoots as well.
La 5 and La 7 flap damage no longer causes a fuel leak.
Removed a number of shapes from the shapefile that shouldn't have been there. The only effect of this is if you are using a H2H terrain that you created that happened to have one of those objects in it. No online terrains are affected by this change.
You can no longer collide with ground clutter and it can be toggled off.
-
Im confused...Whats ground clutter?
So now I can whach my M3 into a boulder at full speed and I'll just stop?
-
I think they mean the white ground clutter u sometimes see on the ground which are/were as deadly as trees. Think there were really much of them in the ToD:Malta map..
-
Wow, thanks for posting this. It is too difficult to click on the news forum and read it there.
-
Lol i just figured i'd post it and people could ask questions about it and get help or soemthing. So chill out bud
-
Are the Tiger bug fixes in this patch?
-
Doesnt appear that way
-
Exiting on an enemy runway no longer counts as a successful landing.
Well that sucks...
So why don't they make it so that you can land anywhere on a friendly base for a successful landing. If you deadstick a landing and for some reason end up on the grass, even if it is right next to the tower, you still get a ditch! I can understand a ditch if you are outside the radius of the field (including the VH), but not when you are only a few feet off the nearest concrete.
-
That's why we need a GV that can tow your aircraft back onto the runway. :D (shameless plug)
-
Yay Ju-88 gunsight fixed. Actually was kinda cool though had to rely on gunsight reticle size when close in.

The tiger is fixed, just forgot to put it in the readme.

NB's alterations to the Trinity map hasn't been included? Also, I don't see the new clipboard map for Trinity.
I dont know what the original plan was, but I thought NB said that he had submitted his changes to you guys, HT?

I think I should be able to land at an enemy base if the rules allow it...remember, this is still a game and not reality. If it were reality, I could pull my plane off the runway and onto the grass of a friendly base and exit with a successful landing.
If the goal is to simulate reality, then the rule change to disallow enemy field landings is fine...but then appropriately change the friendly base landing rules too.

What was wrong with it?
-
Alright!! No more running into some dead object or town stuff in my Tiger and getting killed. I should get a refund for the perks I lost for that!! LOL j/k.

Agree the 'not landing directly on the airstrip' sucks and should be changed.
With the distances you have to fly on the infinity map everyone will be flying P-51s, 47s and 152s so they have a chance at making it back...

If I remember correctly, the way bases are built in the terrain editor, this is not possible to do. They would have to change the editor first, then go back and change every base on every map.

Well, at least they were thinking ahead when they made it.

Yay ! Bishrooks finally ran out of AT mines they placed under every freakin` object ;)

Why not allow successful landings at enemy airfield??
Don't successful bails count as a death in the k/d ratio???
You know what this will help out...
Your getting pounded by large numbers of enemys, just go pork thier fuel and the pilots that care about landing thier kills will go elsewere.....
Pork-arama has never had a better incentive.

yep it sucks... just one more reason to only fly late war planes in the arena.... as if we needed more reasons... if you can't exit on enemy airfields then if you don't want to be captured or if you don't want a long boring flight hme you better pick the fastes plane you can... also... if you have a slow plane you are now forced to have to be cought out in the open between fields much more often.. you can't outrun the noble B&Zers who hang out between fields for just such a circumstance. Just one more addition to ruin it for early war and turnfiters.

So how does the "successful landing" work at a VH? There is a certain range from the VH that you can exit and get a successful landing. I'm not sure if this is true, but it seems that the radius of that "safe landing" circle has increased around VHs in the recent past. I would assume that if that kind of change is easy enough to make then having a "safe landing" radius around the runways could easily be done (although I think it would be most logical to have the radius be centered around the tower).
I know quite some time ago it used to be that exiting on the re-arm pad or exiting inside a hanger would give you a ditch...and those were changed, of course I have no idea the effort involved in those changes.
-
You just have to be on the base tile for a successful landing at a VH. You can tell when you're on the tile by looking at the difference in the ground color, from the F5 view it's easy to see the difference.

Oed
LOL, just wait for AH to be available for the PS2 or Xbox.

I don't think that this should be a problem, forcing players to land on the strip adds a bit of excitement to landing a damaged plane.
Doing a deadstick approach and then landing and coasting to the rearm pad gives a sense of satisfaction to me since it isn't necessarily easy to do, not that it's that hard but it does add to the excitement IMO.
I think you can forget about this being changed for this version of AH, maybe HT has taken this into consideration for AH2. If he does then I'd like to see the terrain surounding the base to be spotted with potholes and mud bogs...just to keep the excitement level up yaknow ;)

Wasn't WB3 supposed to come out on the Xbox?

Great! Nothing will prevent you from continuing to challenge yourself if you choose should HTC decide to make the model more realistic in regards to landing.
I'm a pilot in real life, and at the field where I fly, 9 times out of 10 I prefer to land on the grass next to the runway (either in power or in my sailplane...personally I find that more challenging). When I do this, folks don't come running out of the FBO asking me why I ditched! :)
-
I think no more trees is a step backwards...

Maybe HT will model a mud bog at each field and dedicate it to you....could call it Cromagnon bog ;)
How 'bout some potholes: Mawtholes
Then we could see some of the sights seen on the unpaved fields during the war....wouldn't it be fun to do a propstand or have a part of your landing gear collapse while you were trying to eek the highest score possible for that flight!
Gotta have the bad if you want the good on this particular point IMO.

I agree. I had no idea that HT was considering this as a "fix" to people complaining about blowing up when hitting one.

Hmm...Lars I'd say you Men of Leisure (or is it light loafers ;) ) have been lazily sipping on too many over-iced lemonades...it's given you a brain freeze.
When you have a good argument and not a bunch of vitriolic comments aimed at me or my squad come back. Till then..bu-bye.
-
Landing anywhere on ANY BASE TILE should be a successful landing, friendly or otherwise.
If an enemy base is capped enough to the point that you can land safely, then what is the REAL fundemental problem with receiving a safe landing.
I can't believe that HTC changed this. There have been previous posts on this subject, and from what I can remember, there wasn't such an overwhelming call for this change to justify this change.

MeatWacker......I'm with you on this one. I've lost at least 90% of my tigers due to a sliver of wood on the ground. I'd like my perkies back too. I'm pretty sure I won't get them but....you know....wishful thinking

MOLs drink Flak Panzer Oil, not over-iced lemonades. They also wear lime green leisure suits but that's a different topic.

Will they be making a new patch to fix this white water bug... I gotsta know!

Not unless HT is willing to give control of AH over to Mickey$oft; from what I understand, online games have to be hosted on Microsoft's servers. And the eternal crap involved in having to recertify the game for Xbox every time they released a patch or added/updated a terrain.
