Due to numerous activities competing for my time and attention, I must regrettably announce my intention to step down from my position as a Combat Theater Staff member. I will remain in place until we can find a replacement, so submit your resumes to Pyro or Skuzzy.
It has been my great pleasure to serve this community for the last three years, first as a member of the Campaign Managers’ Corps (part of the initial cadre), then in the capacity of CT Staffer. I was privileged to be involved in the rebirth of the CT (I’m the last active member of the original CT staff). I have watched it go from rather tepid beginnings, with a primetime high of 25 people on-line, to today where we regularly see anywhere from two to four times that many. While I like to think my fellow CT staffers and I had some small part in that success, I believe the greater credit belongs with the map-makers, skinners, and (most especially) you…the CT “elitists”;).
While I will no longer speak with the “blue voice of God” on-line (reference to the blue-colored CM text radio channel), and will miss those “phenomenal, god-like powers,” I am not leaving the AH community altogether. I will continue to fly in the CT and post on this board…just not as often as before. I am not stepping down for any negative reasons, either. A combination of family obligations, a software development effort of my own, and the simple trials and challenges of life are telling me I need to cut the pie in fewer slices. I just feel I can’t do the job justice right now, and that some fresh blood will keep the CT prospering. The indications are that the CT will likely survive the upgrade to Aces High 2; I sincerely hope that is the case. AH2 promises to provide a unique on-line experience that I plan to indulge in, but I will still crave the less structured environment of the CT when I feel the need for a quick kill or three.
I have really enjoyed working with Brady, MrFork, and my old friend Jarbo. I have great confidence they will continue to provide excellent service. I’ve also enjoyed working with the mapmakers, both the CM Terrain team and the free-lancers. With few exceptions, they and the community at large have been very supportive, providing feedback, encouragement, and even praise and gratitude. It’s been a great experience all in all. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sabre

Sabre, I wholeheartedly agree. I suggest that you cut out either your family, or your job. Those should be your first two choices. I regret that we cannot permit you to relinquish your CT obligations, but, hey, there's more of us than there are people in your family or at your job, and you have to cut where it hurts the fewest number of folks. No, don't thank me, it's part of my job to give guidance to people on important decisions.
You're leaving quite a legacy. Deepest thanks from all of us, Sabre.

Sabre, thanks for your work!

Thanks for everything Sabre!
You have done quite a bit for our arena. Your dedication to historical accuracy, details, fairness and gameplay have made some great set ups come to life. I suspect that you spend more time doing the CM thing than you do actually flying. I hope that your leaving the staff means more time for you to fly, as well as time for family and work...
Being one who is fortunate enough to know you personally, I can attest that you are a model father. I think that you are making a wise choice and I'm sure that you and your family will benefit from your newfound time. You're expertise will be greatly missed, however.

Thanks for being one of the few.

Sabre: Thank you for all you have done to make CT arena the best thing going online for two factions to butt heads in.
Enjoy your family while you and they are still realtively young. Life only comes around once, and that will seem rather short when the kids are off to college and starting their own lives and families.
God bless you and yours in all things.

Sabre! Thanks for all the hard work. Take Care.

Sabre! Sorry to hear you don't have enough time for this any more. You have always been fair, level headed and passionate, which is an excellent combination for those who run the CT and are on the CM staff. :) So many of us end up tasting our socks and saying something that “really” should not have been said (myself included) but for the life of me I can’t think of once that you have lost your cool.
Thanks for all you have done, not only for the CT but on the CM staff. It was a pleasure to have met you at the con and I consider myself fortunate to have met you. :)
Respectfully,

Sabre,
Just when we get you trained, you quit? Why can't you be like the rest of us and have no life? Good luck bud. Welcome to the world of us mere mortals.

Thank you very much, Sir and
!
I am very pleased you are hosting my new Winter FinRus in next week! And I'm very sad you leave your host job now, because you and Brady are the CT Staff members with whom it has been very nice to make co-operation. As we say in Finland:
"Hommat hoituu" (things working good)!;)
I hope we meet in the cocpits in the arenas many times in the future!:)
KIITOS SABRE!

Sabre. You were always the voice of reason man. Glad to have worked along with ya.
There is life after being a staffer.
NOOooooo responsibilities. ;)
-
Thnx Sabre!!!
It's been great fun in there thnx to you and the other volunteers.
:)

Sabre. Never spent much time in the CT, but I'm another of those lucky ones who knows you and knows how much work you always put in, not just to the CT staffing, but to everything. If it weren't for your efforts, I can think of quite a few of us who might not have found AH and the joys that come with it. Are you still talking cadets into flying?
-
sabre you did a great job.

You will be missed...and remembered.
