Can someone tell me how you get the game to load a particular saved refresh rate for the resolution you set Aces at? I have set the refresh rate for each resolution I use in Windows and I assumed when the game loads it would load that refresh rate but it seems to always go the the lowest possible. This happens in every game I run by the way... The only way I can get it to do what I want is to already have windows in the same screen res and refresh rate the game will be in before I load it. Can't this happen dynamically?

Thats how it normaly works, did you also make sure you were in the same color depth when setting windows?

Yes, I'm always in 32bit color in windows.
This doesn't have anything to do with Aces per se I know since I've noticed this happens with every game.
I assumed when you set your desktop to each resolution and assign a specific refresh rate to it XP/video driver remembers it and when that resolution is requested by a game it sets the appropriately saved refresh rate. Apparently XP or the video driver is not handling it then...

please provide video card info...
in XP for NVIDIA cards
Right CLick desktop and choose properties
Click the settings tab and then ADVANCED button
find the NVIDIA tab
find the Override refresh rates options.
OR check your refresh rate settings:
Settings --> ADvanced --> Monitor tab
AH uses desktop res and refresh. If your desktop refresh is set for 60 or you try to run 1600X1200 with a monitor that only supports 60hz at the res, there is your answer.

If you have an Nvidia based video card there is a bug in the Win2K/XP drivers where it doesn't lock in the refresh rate and that sounds like the problem you are having.
You can go to Guru3D (http://www.guru3d.com) and download NVRefreshTool (http://download.guru3d.com/detonator/) which will lock your refresh rate. Only problem is that it's only been tested up to the 40.41 drivers but I'm sure it should work with some of the new Nvidia drivers.
There is another option and that is to use Multi-Res (http://www.entechtaiwan.com). It will allow you to lock your refresh rates and is fully compatible with Win2k/XP and supposedly with all version of Nvidia drivers. You can go to the Multi-Res Online Help Site (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/multires.htm) for more information.
Hope this helps.

41.09 drivers now have their own refresh rate override Ack-Ack which works fine in XP pro for me.
Not sure if earlier versions had this feature or whether it was introduced in 41.09

Hehe I still live in the stone age and use Win98SE so I don't have the refresh rate problem but thanks for the info as it should help out Honda.

Thanks for the info folks... I have the ATI Radeon 9500 Pro card though, but I'm guessing a similar issue. It's not the end of the world to have to set it before going into Aces really, just a bit of a hassle.

I use ReFresh Force with my Radeon 9500. Works well and is uninstallable.

Uncheck the box "Use DDC information" in the monitor advanced section for XP.
No such problem in Win98SE. :)
