Yay, my favorite threads, let's see who I can upset this time around.
RC51, some nice groups up on your workbench there, . What kind of .223 loadout are you using in that rifle?

But non of em class 3?

This is Canada, land of even crazier gun laws than California. But we do have SOME decent points, example the 203, which isn't even considered a firearm. Also, 3rd gen NV equipment is available to the public even though the USA doesn't export it.
All AR class rifles are in the same class, so you can have a teloscopic stock/muzzle break/14.5 barrel without it being a 200 dollar tax. I'd rather pay the tax myself, as we can only shoot "restricted use" rifles and all handguns at an "approved" range. Luckily I work at one, and have a membership at a couple others, but this is proving to be very, VERY expensive. When it gets too stupid I'll sell everything that is class 3 in the USA and move south.
We've got an old Hispano 20mm in the shop here, it's not considered a firearm either, and I'm about a month away from having it in firing condition, which should be fun against old cars and large pumpkins. I'll be sure to upload some vids of that action when it occurs.
-
Can you acctully export class 3 to USA?
Or to you have to move there and take it with you as "property"?
The problem here is that everything that is manufactured as a gun, (no matter what you do with it, weld it, seal it) is concidered to be a gun and you have to get a licens for it. And it has to be locked away under special conditions. But then again, once you have your "Class 3" licens and the storage, they cant stop you from buying as many as you want. (as long as your storage is aproved)
I have laid my eyes on a 40mm bofors, but I need to be able to store it in a "vault". So for now, it has to stay where it is.
I really wish that I could post my G3, but never learned how to post pictures. (hint, hint)

RC51, that's one of John Plaster's stocks isn't it?
How do you find it for zero retention, I'm curious about one for my varmit gun.
Accuracy International stocks = 1000$ here, I don't want to spend that again.
-
Oh the thing works like a dream no problems
holding a 0.360" group at 100 yds w/ the win 300 mag.
the only draw back is it is HEAVY but i needed that to kill the recoil.
I paid 186.00 for mine so price is right on.

I don't like to list what I have, we had 11 guns of 21 stolen when I was a kid *(I came home from school and apparently scared the thieves away, they missed taking my fathers 1878 .45-70) They did get his 1911 side-by-side Mossberg though :( As a rule I keep my gun info to myself.
-
I don't mind listing them because I don't have them anymore
Ruger 3-screw SA .357
Sahr & Son (sp) .22 SAA colt reproduction
Browning .350
Winchester 30-30
Winchester .32 Trapper
Custom built Winchester .300 mag, 98 Mauser action with a Douglas barrel, birds-eye maple stock
6.5x55 swedish mauser carbine
Stevens 12ga pump
Wish I still had them though

Which Sig is that Gman? I'm real fond of the P228 myself (yes yes I know its not "adequate" for you big caliber types, but it gets the job done 13 or 15 times) ;)
-
I'm going to get one of these in the next 5 years gman (for now I have to covet yours)... nice riffle:
And Gman... what is this one? A model 700P?:

Marlin bolt action .22 (don't remember model #)

Mossburg 18 1/2" barrel shotgun

-
Oh... and none of my guns have been stolen (gun safes work great) nor have they been used to shoot at aproaching cars after power outages.
MiniD
technically the FB Radom was stolen once, though the German officer had no need for it at the time. Grandpa never did feel very bad about that one.

That's a good idea Rip, I have, ummm, lots of guns, all of them are legal and registered...yeah, that's the ticket, the gvmt knows about each and every gun I have ;)

Got a few here. Enjoy target/skeet shooting. Recently developed a "thing" for 1911's.

Hell yeah, a gun thread!
Here are mine...

one more pic
The M1 and Sig 220 where by far the best money spent.
-
Gtora, nice Garand, I have several myself.
Mini D, that's a stock Remington 700 Police/.308, it's my DCRA class rifle (factory rifle, fixed 10x mildot).
I've recently got myself a Kimber custom CDP in .45. I'm quite taken with the 1911's.
Also, the sig is a plain old P220 in .45.

I have a bunch actually. And here a photos of three:

I just recently had this M97 reblued and refinished. Except for the butstock it's all original.

This is my Belgien Superposed. It's also been reblued and refinished.

Me with my M70 .300 H&H and the spike mule deer I shot last year.

what you guys aren't posting serial numbers too?
gotta agree with rip on this one. the only list of my guns is in a safe deposit box (for insurance purposes) even my insurance agent just gets a total dollar figure, no list of numbers, makes or models
-
Here's a good question:
What does a carry permit cost you?
Where I currently live its $10
I've visited Oklahoma and I believe it was around $120
I used to live in California and it was Fuggin impossible to get a permit. Fuggin commie state! Thats just un-american!
Oh, almost forgot. Gman, I'm glad yer my squadie! For future reference, if I ever say anything that pisses you off, it was an accident, it wasn't directed at you or if that doesn't work...I apologize profusely, here in advance:D
-
Gman... that clip you have in the M4... I've had problems with them in my Olympic arms. Assuming that's the plastic Israeli clip. It locks great, but doesn't chamber rounds reliably. Have you had any problems with yours?
MiniD
-
The Israeli's are Orlite, pretty similar to that mag, which is a Canadian Thremold.
They are both pretty much crap, in cold weather the bottoms will break on contact with soft ground, and spit the rounds and spring all over the place.
They are cheap is all, I have bought them in lots of 100 for 250$ in the past.
I use metal GI mags with the green follower as my "good" mags.
Also, I'm in Canada, our serial numbers were all comprimised when the CFC's database was stolen by somebody working for the Hell's Angels who worked at the Center, so it doesn't matter.
My vault would take a couple hours to crack, and that would be only if the theif knew what he was doing. Ain't no way it's coming out of the basement now that the house is finished around it.
-
On my list to play with when I visit Gman in Calgery.
-
Wow Shooting deers u must be very brave.
I wish wildlife animals could shootback
Having a gun ok but shooting wildlife for fun blows my head.
-
Bug,
Predation is part of the "natural world." Deer are becoming an environmental hazard in areas of the country where their numbers are unchecked by predation. There is no longer an understory of young trees to replace the older oaks, beeches, hickories, etc. that are nearing the end of their life cycle.
Biologists have been recommending increased hunting of does to reverse this trend, but, unfortunately they are being fought, tooth and nail, by arm-chair environmentalists who cannot EVER see anything good about hunting.
Perhaps you need to rethink some of the notions with which you have been indoctrinated in by Disney and others.

I rather prefer a coyote doing that or a puma whatever (nature select it's weak prey itself)
But not man and his gun he isn't able to judge like nature does.
And what fun is it ??
Just can't see the fun off killing animals
I love animals
Shoot em with a camera is much more skillful.
-
Bug,
Man is a part of nature. Can't he be a predator, if he so desires?
Each time you sit down to eat steak, or chicken, or fish you are engaging in a predatory act, even if you do not kill it yourself. It just seems a bit hypocritical to place yourself on a higher moral footing simply because you do not do your own killing.
There must be predation. Animals have been killing and devouring each other for countless millenia. Why can't man be a part of it?
Oh, and by the way...coyotes and pumas and all other predators are opportunists. They will kill any prey that lets its guard down, not just the weak or young. It's a bit silly for modern man to attach moralistic interpretations to nature's system, which is largely amoral.
