Title: SimHQ AH2 interview with Pyro
Post by: Mini D on March 14, 2003, 09:41:02 AM
Check the news if you haven't read it.

WTFG HTC!

That interview answered alot of questions I had about AH2.  I must say, it is a direction I've always wanted AH to go.

Thanks

"We’re also making improvements to our weapon calculations as well as increasing damage effects."

Ouch! :D

How are you reading that Grunherz?  I'm reading it to mean improved balistics and more damage options on aircraft.

My view is a combnation of that perspective and a little bit that they might up hit power of guns, that's why I wrote the ambigous "Ouch! :D "  I can see how there could be more things to damage or more hit effect.

That was a great interview, but I find I still have alot of unanswered questions.  For example, the "war" will consist of a number of "campaigns", each lasting perhaps two weeks.   But are the campaigns set up to reflect actual events in WWII, or is the campaign open-ended - that is, will it be as possible to see a German invasion of England as it is to see an Anglo-American invasion of France/Germany?

I was excited to hear that the development cycle for new AC may be cut by as much as 50%.    After all, I never met a new plane I didn't like.   I don't know however, which new planes are coming - Wellington and He111?   B-24?    Mosquito bomber?   Early P-38?

Which is the next "war" after the ETO?   Eastern Front, Med, or PTO?

Will the cockpit graphic textures be improved?   If immersion is the goal, I'd love to see cockpits on par with Jane's WWII Fighters....

At any rate, I'm happy to see HTC do so well and continue to raise the bar of our expectations for flight sims.   Best wishes for a speedy and smooth rollout of AH2 and TOD!

I kinda thought that's what you were hinting at.  Pyro's comment can be read either way.  Maybe pyro could clarify that himself?

I hope not, squads are such a big part of online sims :(

MTF (micro terrain features):  YAAAYHH!!!! :D

(Curious... is it a fractally generated local function which would be a minimal download yet give everyone the same terrain view?)

SELECTOR, I would expect that you would join a squad in the TOD, created by the system already.

Remember its a wimulation of WWII. You dont creat squads, you get assigned and join them.
