Title: Post War Iraq
Post by: Steve on March 17, 2003, 12:51:16 AM
What will strike me as truly audacious is, that the very same countries that are so against the war in Iraq will actually want to have a say in how Iraq is rebuilt, run.

I hope we tell them to blow.

It is because they'd want a say(I think anyway) that they should not get in the way in the U.N....unless of course they have something to hide.

First things first.

Destroy Al Qaida and all its constituents.

Secure Iraq from the clutches of Saddam Hussein.

Enforce world peace by ensuring the world's oil supply is fairly distributed and is not held hostage by any country.

The main thing to remember is, the Earth's resources will run out one day.  Some estimates are this may happen within 100 years.  We must advance technologically, not as a matter of convenience, but to survive.  And yes, this means the space program is important.

It will get to the point very soon, that we will have to be able to mine minerals from asteroids.  This will help for awhile, but the ultimate goal is to move to another world...possibly another star system.

The only alternative would be the stepping back of civilization, to a time when oil and minerals were not needed on a massive level.
Something to think about.  If we move forward, it will mean a Hurculean committment to task, technologically as well as militarily.   I believe this is the only way to go, because people wouldn't stand for going back to horse and buggy days.  It would be impossible to enforce unless everybody did it, and agreed to it.

Thank you Tronsky for your reply.  I reread the post and noticed the double sig.  Don't blame you for questioning me.  Besides that, (and the quote), what did you think about the rest of the post?

It will be another dictatorship ..That's the only thing the Arab's understand..They will never have a democratically elected government cause that would be too "Western"....The Arabs will never seperate religion from politics.

Qatar's holds democratic municipal  elections, and is moving forward to a full democracy. Women can vote and run for office in Bahrain as well as about 4 other Arab countries.

Do women have the vote in Saudi Arabia?

Women can pretty much do what they want in Jordan too.

Given the fact that US of A consumes as much oil as the rest of the world - it sounds intriguing. :)  Especially the "fair distribution" part.

Boroda.  Watch "The Day the Earth stood still, " and you'll know what I'm talking about.
