Alright, let me see if I've gotten this right.
Turkey, realizing we are going to war, is launching an emergency session of paliament to get approval for the US to launch attacks from Turkey. Nice.
Canada refuses to commit troops to the cause of liberating Iraq.
Huh?
Alright, I guess either we have a better relationship with Turkey than we do with our neighbor to the North....or they just really need the money.
-
Canada has nothing to lose by not commiting troops.
Turkey stands to gain.
It has nothing to do with friendship.
-
canada has troops ? RCMP don't count.

Canadians need a 6 month notice before committing troops that far away. It's a long swim.

Canada will be pulling her share of the load. already has, will continue to do so. I've seen no indication they intened to discontinue their support efforts.. which are not inconsiderable.
their nutbbag politicians notwithstanding, I'm glad they are our neighbors.

Aren't the Canadians still busy in Afghanistan?
Aren't they busy with NORAD responsibilities?
They don't have enough troops or budget to be everywhere.
Dollars to donuts they will end up helping in Iraq during the occupation.

Not everybody!
Come on guys let's not forget how they helped us in Afganistan! There would be a LOT more dead Americans if it were not for the excellent Canadian snipers. They stand by us most of the time. It would be nice to have them with us now, but I can understand why they are not. AND they haven't stabbed us in the back in the proccess, unlike another country I can think of.
S! Canada, I wish we could sit this one out too, but it has to be done...

Canada actually is our friend. They don't have to fight all of the wars with us, they do tend to fight with us on the very important ones though.

WARSAW, Poland -- Poland would send up to 200 soldiers to take part in a U.S.-led war with Iraq, President Aleksander Kwasniewski announced Monday.
that's 200 more than we had, thank you poland!
-
Really don't care who fights with us as long as they don't try to get in the way.

Thanks, Poland, can we start looking for base facilities for 50,000 troops? :)

Well that feels good.
I hope the US military knows something about Iraqs internal situation that the rest of us dont.
and
My sons just landed in Disneyland with my ex. Hope Sadam doesnt have a way to nuke LA.( I hope that anyway..But today I really hope it.)

and don't forget, lotsa canadians flying on AWACS and I don't mean the NATO ones. The normal 552 ACW outa Tinker has a sizable canadian presence that flies the same missions right along side the american crews.

Well I am a Canadian.
My personal feelings are that our Goverment ...or at least our Prime Minister is an embarassment to our country. The guy talks out of the side of his mouth to begin with and all along he has been leaping from one side of the fence to the other.
Today with his comments he has obviously straddled the fence while leaping and lost his balls.
It is true that becuase of the huge military cutbacks, we have fewer and fewer troops to go around, BUT he could still say our country supports The US and their decision to remove Saddam from power.
The facts are. Saddam has been lieing and playing games with the world. The UN can't get their collective tulips together to make a decision so the USA does what it has to do.
If I were Prime Minister of Canada I would be showing support for the decision and sending all 3 of my F18's over there :D

Canada, our true concerns should lie to the south....
