17/18 and i remember it well. *sigh* those were the days, Kuwait was invaded and the whole world agreed it was a 'good thing' to go in. Felt a lot better about it then, and man those explosions were cool looking if nothing else... best bit was watching the carbon filaments mess up the electricity supplies, clever.
:D

I was 25, and was heading home from work when I heard on the radio that the bombs were falling. My roommate and I sat there and watched CNN for about three days straight!

I was in middle school during the first Gulf War. Don't remember how old I was, I guess I could start counting. I was in 7th or 8th grade, so figure 13-14.

Just curious as to age of those who have an opinion now, compared to how old they were when we were faced with this problem then.

I had just turned 19 when Saddam sent in the clowns into Kuwait. Then I helped my Dad's unit deploy to the Gulf by loading ammunition and filling diesel bladders. Then going and picking up trucks and Hummers and taking them from Montgomery, AL to Selma, AL and loading them on flat beds for transportation to Jacksonville, FL to load on the transport ships.

senior in HS 18yrs old....
funny thing about that time. ma and a group of friends were thinking about being over there (which in 3 months after school as out we could have been).
the thing that pissed us off was rather stoopid and simple but it was the fact that even if we had joined the military to defend our country we could not have legally had a drink :(
this is what we ranted about most of the time... there was never a doubt that the UN forces would not win. seeing those bombs on CNN taking out buildings was way cool to us.
we were the smartest 18 year olds onthe planet cause we all watched CNN instead of prime time TV. we knew all there was to know about the war. everyone asked us if they had a question about where something was or what was going on.
oh well my stoopid story about the gufl war and me and my friends thoughts @ the time.

31, and waiting with b-bag packed. For weeks before our hospital commander kept giving us briefings that our UTC was tasked to go either to Saudi or Yemen it was just a matter of time, his words "we are on the invite list and just waiting for our airplane tickets". They tasked almost the entire group at Mountain Home except for the hospital, they took a couple of surgeons, some med techs, some admin guys and most of the Bio Enviormental guys. The rest of us stayed behind taking up the slack on base and watched everything on TV.

It was after school was out, my high school rifle team was having a match against another school at our range. I was one of the last ones on the firing line when someone turned their car radio up real loud so everyone could hear about it.
