Howdy,
My wife and I got an HDTV a couple months ago, and I'd like to get rid of my cable and get some HD content.
The current receiver that supports HDTV signals is the 6000 (for Dish Network), but a new one is coming out soon that also has a built in PVR. It's called the 921 (and another one called the 9000) are supposed to be out 'any time now', but I've heard nothing new since early February.
Does anyone here know anything about this? I'd like to know when they're coming out and whether I should wait or not.

It'll never take off til Porn goes HD.

dunno about dish but time warner cable tampa bay division (now called Bright House Networks ) has had HD on the locals and showtime & hbo for quite a while (couple of years).
watching a true hdtv program spoils you. regular television looks flat. the superbowl was not true HD but it was darn close and a great picture.
we are beta testing dvr8000 settops from Scientific atlanta. They have a built in tivo, recorder, and can make any tv a picture in a picture set. record one program while watching another. beta testers are pleased.
im sure dish has a similar setup. I know they have other hd programming than we carry. check out this link for more hd info..
