NBC news says tonights raid on Baghdad was in part a raid by F117's on a recently detected Iraqi leadership meeting, including Saddam himself, in a bunker. The F117's were said to be dropping 2000 lb laser guided bombs on the target bunker(s)

I hope they didn't kill him but definetly maimed the phucker and hope he is in agony.
-
well they hit the bunker with 4 of those eggs, if one of the first pair got him, I dont think he knows hes dead yet :)
-
He's supposed to address the Iraqi people this evening - presumable to show he's still alive.
Many disapointed Iraqis Im sure.
-
Just a tape, probably made days ago.
I hope he is dead now.

It sure didn't look anywhere near like Hussein to me. When I saw that guy making the speech, my immediate thought was "holy toejam - they actually got him".
I guess we'll see. It sure would be nice if this war could get wrapped up with a couple of nice little strikes like that.
-
It sounded like him and kinda looked like him but something is not right..
-
didnt seem to have the swagger of Saddam, of course, a close brush with a 2k bunkerbuster will do that :) Mebbe his appearance will actually work to demoralize those who are actually still loyal to him
-
They said it was a live appearance.
CNN reported that it was obviously taped.
They said there was a "crease" in the tape, what ever that means, and pointed out that he didn't refer to any facts, or to the raid. Just broad statements.
-
Apparently it just means there was something in the broadcast a glitch of some sort that identified it as a tape.
-
A tape... Live... it doesn't mean too much either way. He coulda taped it 5 minutes after the strike and had it ferried over to wherever it got broadcast from. TV stations aren't the safest places during an invasion. :) Doesn't mean it was taped days ago or anything.... though that could be the case as well.
-
When they switched to broadcast you could hear some techs refering to '15 different guys tracking the signal' and some other stuff. If Saddam did an actual 'live' broadcast then he'd a be a fool. He'd be best to record it and then send it to the nearest studio.
If Saddam were dead I believe Iraq would've surrendered already. Why suffer the wrath of the US when their #1 target has been hit?

Maybe because Saddams sons and the rest of the Baath party (sp?) still have an incentive to hold on to the country?
