Title: My affair w/JD is over...OMG!
Post by: batdog on March 20, 2003, 08:17:43 PM: I dont like it anymore. WTF has happened? I just had a good shot of it..and almost puked. Oh the buzz is still fine but the taste...

Any suggestions folks?

The liver is the conversion factory for the brain. It converts certain things (sugar, caffiene, nicotine, etc) into a form useable by the brain.

Oh seawulf, you are so abusive when you are drunk.

If I wasnt such a bad biology student, I could tell you exactly what the liver does to alcohol. But alcohol is of the Hydroxyl group. It has an OH molecule attached to the 'tail' end of the compound. The liver either takes this OH molecule off, or adds an organic compound to the end to stabilize it. I cant remember which, the professor just mentioned it in passing as we are not studying human functions.

As for biology, yup, I dun took it too. I dun undeestand.

The liver converts alchohol into a form the brain can use (as with all drugs). It's always toxic, otherwise it wouldn't get ya all fugged up. Drugs are just that, chemicals that are toxic to the brain... that's why overdosing on alchohol will kill ya, cuz it makes your blood so toxic that your brain can't handle it and shuts down.

Body.. brain, it's the same difference. Depends which part fails first, many times its the brain in alchohol poisoning. Alchoholics die from liver failure, but that's not overdosing, that's just abuse.
