Title: Is .squelch applied at the server?
Post by: Mickey1992 on March 28, 2001, 10:30:00 AM
(I searched this forum and the news forum but could not find an answer to this.)

If I .squelch a channel/person, is that filtered out at the server (the data never comes down the pipe) or does my client filter it out?

I am just curious if squelching the "kill channel" (6?) and/or channel 1 will help me during large engagements.  My connection is many times below 56K.

Also, I remember some time ago that the functionality was added for us to be able to squelch the "kill channel".  Is this channel 6?  The help web page has not been updated to reflect this change.

I seriously doubt that it would help in that situation.  The location, speed and heading stats for the aircraft in the area take up almost all of the dataflow.  The radio is a very very small percentage.

.squelch 6 to get rid of the kill messages, yes.
