Is the 3rd Infantry Division configured like a Cav regiment now ? Just by what I heard on news lately it sounds more like a cav regiment than an ID, With "brigade combat teams" functioning like squadrons . Was it retooled when it was brought back from Germany ?

I don't think so but I'm a little confused my self. They say the 7th Cav is leading the 3rd ID north but I saw an interview with what the reporter said were 7th Cav troops and they were wearing 3rd ID sholder parches. (square parch with stripes at a 45 degree angle)
Is it really the 7th Cav or the recon troop of the 3rd ID with 'Seven' in it's unit ID ?

Its the 3rd Sqdn, 7th Cav. They are the Div. Cav. sqdn. for the 3ID. Like the 1st Sqdn. 7th Cav. is the Div. Cav. for the 1st Cav. Div. All Divisions have a Cav. Sqdn. to do recon with.
CAV
I was a Cav Scout for 22 years
