All I can think of is one of the Italian light cruisers of the Duca D'Acosta class that were transfered to the Greeks and Russians as reperations. I would guess the Russian one so the "Stalingrad".

yes Chapaev. The Italians had been doing some design work with/for the Russians before these were built, and I even see some German influence (from collaberation during the Weimar Republic period maybe?)

hehe poor old brady will be annoyed he missed this one! he loves his ships and has kept this sort of question of the week thing going for years, just when he gets the chance to have a bit of fun himself he gets beaten to it :) go on dig out another for him :)

well it looked like he was lurking around after I posted it, oh well.
