USA is at war, the terroist level is set at high and people are still protesting? I don't understand the reason for protesting. Surely even the protestors understand that resources used to control them are resources taken away from protecting us and our families, protestors and supporters alike.
I at least hope the fines have been increased now that we are at war.
http://www.brainterminal.com has a nice video showing the typical protestor.

there have always been "war protesters" and in every country (that will allow protests)
there were protesters in 1776 that did not want war with england.
there were war protesters against the american civil war
there were protesters against WW1 and WW2 and every war after.
going to war is like going to the dentist, you really don't want to go and you may put it off as long as you can, but sooner or later you have to get that bad tooth taken care of.
-
people have a right to protest.
that said-
we are now at war, the time for deciding wether or not we should be at war has passed. if they wanted to stop this war they should have tried harder earlier on.
I'm still unsure as to the need for this war. I don't think our president ever seriously considered not having a war, I don't think he gives a rats bellybutton for the will of the American people, and thats been may main concern all along. not that I think all war is wrong. just that he is supossed to carry out the will of the people and doesn't seem to care what we want (unless you have enough $$, then he might care what you think).
but IMO the WAY these people have been protesting is nothing short of treasonous. I think protesting is pointless at this time, but they do have a right to do it.
thursday night they blocked the freeways here in Portland, blocking people into the city (making them a prime target for chemical or bio attack, out of shelter and unable to flee).
also this disrupted manufacturing and industry, there could and probably was parts and products on trucks, that where needed for manufacturing and carrying on our ecconomy, some of this cargo may have even been in route to the war effort. how is this different from acts of sabotage? the effect is the same, disrupt the means of suport for your army.
if you want to protest go ahead (at this point I'll think you're an idiot but I'd suport your right to do it). but you protest by picketing, marching, bumper-stickers, signs, speaches, etc. not by doing things that are against the law, and then justifying your actions by saying it's alright to break these laws because 'I don't like the war', especialy when your actions endanger the lives of others(how could emergancy services have made it through that mess)
IMO treason, nothing less

there were protesters against WW1
Really? So the hundreds of thousands of people waving flags outside Buckingham Palace on the declaration of war were protesting?
Or the women handing out white feathers to men of fighting age out of uniform - they were protesting?
Or the thousands of people lining up outside the recruiting stations in 1914 were protesting?
Wow. You learn something new everyday.
Tell me, was WW1 worth it?

What are you trying to coomplish here? Are you stating that no one protested the Great War?
-
No he is saying it was wrong that people did not protest ww1 and that england, france and russia should have given more time for diplomacy to work while the central powers overrran half of europe..

Well, if you hadn't noticed...Dowding has taken it upon himself to disagree with everyone about everything that is even remotely related to this war.
Say that Saddam is bad? Dowding will show up and say that Sharon is just as bad. Say that Iraq has WMDs? Dowding will show up and say that Israel has WMDs. Say that this war has popular support? Dowding will show up and say that you are wrong. Say anything whatsoever, and Dowding will show up with some absurd BS to counter your post.
He has been losing it really bad lately, dunno why really. He just is like straffo and blitz now, and its rapidly becoming pointless to talk to him.

It is a shame that the Blind many that protest against PROGRESS, continue to Grasp at STRAWS when real life events unfold, giving the story of SUCCESS for this "war".
Wake up uninformed people.

Yes, it does.

the ignore list is a great thing :)
as for protestors, when the point comes that the "police state" disbands such "peaceful" expressions of their points of view, then they'll really have something to scream about...
if they wanna protest, allow them to meet at a park, stadium, wherever...once their dumbarses start blocking traffic, the whole lot of them should be arrested. what a waste of our police force having to monitor these idiots...they should be billed.

…Says the righteous American who showed up two years late to the party, and only after war was forced on him.
Remember that in that war the French were among the first to declare war, while the Americans were against it.
Do not fool yourself into thinking that your country went to war for Jews, gypsies and other ‘untermensch.’

Not like France had much of a fuggin choice, dipchit. Germany just kinda decided to waltz in and take over and they just kinda decided to fire a couple of shots and throw down their guns. I figure the best of the French backbone was slaughtered in the prior European War that became a World War when the U.S. came over and finished it.
Then, after the "war to end all wars" ended and the trend became cutting the war department to minimums (deja vu). While Hitler rises to power and every single free nation in Europe watches him do it and negotiates and compromises and hum and haaas even when Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo show off their military prowess in Spain, Africa, China ... etc (deja vu). While the Soviet Union alternates between using Spain and China as testing grounds of thier own and jumping in bed with Hitler when there looks like a profit to be made of it (deja vu). While all this happens, FDR and his administration wonders what can be done when the citizens of the U.S. are still war-weary from the last war, recovering from a depression and not too eager to mobilize, industrialize and send their best and brightest off to die on foreign shores.
Europeans should build shrines and make December 7 a universal holiday.
Goofball. :D

Yea and the same apologists, peacnicks, and hitler lovers who kept america out of ww2 for so long despite roosevelt's wishes to join the fighting are well represented and survived by the war protestors we see today.
Sorry leftist BS artist, you wont have that both ways...

Forgive our ancestors. They foolishly assumed that after WWI, Europeans had learned their lesson and could manage their own affairs responsibly.
Maybe they were waiting for a UN resolution.

Same thing in the Yugoslav civil war...
http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110003086
Here is a particulary good quote from the article...
"In 1993, Alija Izetbegovich, then the beleaguered president of Bosnia-Herzegovina, explained his feelings to me in the starkest possible manner: "Only the Americans could save us from annihilation. If they do not come, there will soon be no Muslims left in the former Yugoslavia. The Europeans will debate until we are all dead."
-
Yes, there are a lot of protestors. Too bad they don't take their own advice and rely on dialogues for 12-years before running out destroying property, disrupting government operations and the lives of local citizens (who may or may not be pro-war.)
It's a sad fact of life on this planet, but sometimes force is necessary no matter how hard you close your eyes and wish it away.
-
Dowding,
In this country, there were a lot of protestors against entering the First World War.
And looking back now 80-years later, I don't think it was worth it. I don't really care now what language the French speak and maybe Germany wouldn't have been punished to the extent that the rantings of a mad-man were sane to them.
